I am planing to start work on the CompSci.ca verson of DWITE (a progaming contest for high school). And we need some peoleop to help out on coming up with good progaming questions for the contest. Also we are looking for peoleop to decide on the rules and polices of such a contest.

If you are intrested post and let me know but know you will not be able to persispate in the next DWITEs if you are helping with the questions. Idealy we are looking for univesity stundtes to help but any smart progamers whould be nice.

I am definitely not one of the smart programmers but I could give ideas / help out with little projects, how do you think the judge should be set up? Because it wouldn't take too much time to come up with the question, cause bugz, zylum have all kinds of ideas.. so yeah back to judge, would it be a computer correcting the submissions? Also, which langs to use? I would suggest Turing, VB, Java and C++, perhaps even Pascal? Cause most of the school use these right?

eh.. Dan - perhaps we shouldn't go too much off tangent on the setup of the contest. The questions tend to follow a certain pattern, so I think we should start off with similar questions.

What we need is to conduct a review of the current rules and policies and see if anything should be updated or not. Here are the current rules

Any language that we can compile/interpret anda execute through the command line will probably be accepted.

This REALY should be in the DWITE fourms, esptaly since i have a topic on the curent rules of the contest and a link to the old rules and question about them.

Also even tho the site dose not spefickly say they have such catgorys for the questions, if you read threw them you will see that the questions fallow somthing simler in this and go from an easyish level to a mediume level to a hard level. If we where to just make questions randomly we whould have a problem geting this gradiante. If you disareage with the catgortys you should post in the post about the catgorys.

This topic is just to get peoleop who whont to help.

interesting... i didnt know about this till today. anyways, the most important part (after getting the judging running smoothly) is definitely the problems. WELL-before the contest you should have the problems decided. and you should probably keep a data base of proposed problems along with solutions/test data. its more work than it sounds.

also, it might be a good idea to set up a post-contest judging system.
