There are various means of installing Java 1.5.0 tools in Ubuntu, but the simplest by far is using the packages made available by adding the following to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

## PLF REPOSITORY (Unsupported.  May contain illegal packages.  Use at own risk.)
deb http://packages.freecontrib.org/ubuntu/plf breezy free non-free
deb-src http://packages.freecontrib.org/ubuntu/plf breezy free non-free
