I'm curious, does anyone else experience disconnections at capricious intervals whilst playing a fine game of chess at yahoo games? I can't get through a game without being disconnected at least 5 times for 2 minutes each, and its beyond annoying as I cannot play timed games because of this. I suspect it has something to do with the Java runtime environment because I have the latest installed and perhaps yahoo uses an older version and the switchover has created some bug?

oh my god thank you! at least one person has the same problem. i gave up on playing yahoo chess because everytime i play someone and winning all of a sudden i get disconnected. the worse part is that i can't get back into the game because the table is full. i think i know wat the problem i'm having is. i think its stupid sympatico internet. i'm on my home network and my internet at times just gets disconnected for a second but that second closes the game.

Maybe it's something silly like Sympatico doing an idle disconnect for turns that take too long, or not enough data being sent.

If that were the case, you could use (or even create) a program to ping the server every 25 secs or so. Smile
