How do I install and OS from an image file without actually burning it onto a CD?

partition your hard drive, or do it via lan if you have the proper dos drivers

You'll have to mount it to a virtual drive using something like Daemon tools or alcohol 120%.

the short answer is that you can't. You can't install an OS from within another so deamon tools, etc. simply won't help you.

The long answer is that if you have vmware and you enable raw access to the physical drive you can install through vmware. However you'd need to partition the drive properly first and be really sure you know what you are doing or breaking things is all too easy.

Nope, no links or step by step guides. This would be one of those cases where there are too many different things that can happen and too much variation to be able to provide concise instructions. Really it's one of those times where experience is the only thing that can really help.

If your installing an OS why don't you simply burn a CD. It's not like it's hard...
