Well seeing as 75% of my courses fall under arts this term (thx in part to the fact that Engineering Ethics is a Philosophy course), I will be taking advantage of the upcoming Reading Week and will be going away.

You people and your "week"... I get 4 days; including the weekend. Hopefully I'll get to go somewhere, but most likely I'll get to stay home and do something nifty in the way of programming.

We don't call them snow days here, we just call them days.

So far this year we whould have had tones of days that whould count as a snow day in other parts of the provicen but nothing shuts down here. The only time i have seen somthing clanced due to the weather here is when it gets so cold that the pies break and the heating failes or when a prof can not get black b/c planes are not crazy enought to land here.

Aucatly i got this cheap thermomoter the other day that i think was free from some where that is sposend to let u see the temp outside inside and it aucatly forze and broke the glass. I think they where using like colored water in it or somthing and it was not ment for high negitve temps.

I haven't had a snow day yet and I live in the GTA. Sad I really want one. I used to live in Winnipeg where it gets REEALLY cold. I don't even know when they allowed us to stay home, but I remember going to school during a week where the mornings were -54 ish give or take 4 degrees Celsius. also, the rule was we had to go out for recess unless it was colder than -27 when it was deemed dangerous for prolonged exposure. During -50's i remember walking out of the house and feeling my lips freezing. And people used to take pails of HOT water and pour it over their windshields to melt the ice cover, but unless it was wiped off quickly, it froze over as well, within like 15 seconds.

I was born in Winnipeg, i now live in Thunder Bay just a few KM to the right =p.

-50 and lower days are not fun. Tho some times u get to see the water cryctes in the air frezz and it makes a cool fog.

Well, when I was young, we didn't have snow days either; the name was redundant because every day had snow. Every once in a while, it would go over -50 degrees, and that would be a beach day.

Usually there would be three or four metres of snow on the ground at any time. Sometimes we'd have winds up to 100 km/h, and that would shift some of the snow around. We'd call that a thaw.

The only time we could actually make it to school was during the wooly mammoth migration period. It was dangerous, but if you made it halfway to school through the blizzardous snow, slit open a mammoth and jump inside to regain your body heat AND if you didn't lose any of your books in their internal regions... you could make it the rest of the way.

All the elementary schools around Mac had a snow day yesterday, but our dear admin decided to keep us open. I guess it was a good decision since we actually weren't hit by the storm itself.

Ah well, I don't care, since Reading Week is here! Huzzah for that. I'm totally looking forward to catching up on some much needed sleep...though for some reason I do see myself spending a significant amount of time keeping up with Organic Chemistry. Bloody mechanistic overlord that it is...

Enjoy your hols Tony, and anyone else going anywhere refreshing.
