Google might indeed be a cool place to work, but you gotta admit that's an awesome office setup.

Individuality in office workspace is vitally important. It has a huge psychological impact. It says to your employees that what they do influences the entire company; that the company will change because of them. The message cubicles send is "you will change to fit in with our culture."

The message that cabins give though is that "A crazed lunatic might jump through your window at any time and cut you up with a chainsaw, so be sharp."

Its already sold , but pixar crew are now animators on all disney movies, disney played smart and kept the best in the world.

And neXtStep was bound to win hte fight, the whole shebang for computers was either theft luck or good timing, id made and broke so many companies.

well what about 10% of the time that you get to work on personal projects? That's pretty cool.

IIRC it's actually 25% of your time, and you are required to do so. Personal projets are a big thing at google.

but lets not forget that htey own whatever you make.

i was at 3 google talks this year atU of T, they really like to hire from this Uni.
and the personal time thing is realy cool , becsuae you get to harness all of googles resources that you just cant have on your own , but there are lots of strings and webs around hte whole thing.

Apparently google desktop was one of those personal projects.
