PostPosted: Tue Dec 20, 2005 8:43 pm   Post subject: Advertising site again...

Alright Im about to launch my site (a punk music ezine) systemreject.com in January and need some forum posters. My forum is located at http://systemreject.com/forum. I did a bit of customizing to the forums to give a comfortable feeling and so it fits in with the layout.

Thanks for your time
Psst - if anyone knows a good spot to advertise a music site please tell me cause ive advertised it in all the forums that I know of and need more places.

how do you get that? if you get by all that mainstream crap, punk is still alive and well, shit i can go no more then 30 minutes out of my way (4 different ways) most weekends and hit up a good local concert.

and plus I didn't even ask anyones opinion about "punk" I was advertising my site and I did ask if anyone knew some good promotion sites would be - and thats all... So from this point can people leave dumb comments like that out and NOT ruin my thread, thank you very much.

Oh, the music still exists but the message is gone. I mean, hell, CBGB's is even getting evicted.

I think the message is still there - and stated clearly, a lot of bands still go by the same simple principles, there underground and Barely heard of, but you are right the punk everyone listens to on tv/internet/radio is mainstream bullsh*t. And it all started with the "founders" as they are claimed of punk (ramones and sex pistols) and in my opinion they didnt even start it, but 99% of wherever you go will tell you that. but this is all another story!

This is something I do not wish to portray on my site, although its hard to stay 100% clear of it, im going to do my best to keep 70% of it off the site.

Fair enough. I like the design for the front page.

Content first.

Get the actual website finished, post a few decent reviews (with your own unique twist - there are lots of music review websites out there) and show that you'll regularly add news to the site. Work at it because you like what you're doing, not because you want traffic.

Only then will people start to join. People won't devote time to something if they don't think that you're serious about it.

Unless of course you're the only site about something.

but that is pretty hard to do these days.. inless you want to be the only guy on the internet with a site for guys who are addicted to sticking there you know whats into odd places - and im sure tehre are porn sites full... i think the internet is getting full and just like that internet joke had said "Im waiting for Internet 2"

And yes reviewing albums in unique ways is hard to do, if anybody has some suggestions it would be very helpful - write now i am just getting my staff to do informative reviews that arent too long, about 370 words or so. It gets the point across but will also describe some of the songs - which a lot of sites dont do nowadays

Listen to lots of strange music and use lots of unique twists in your language. Check out www.pitchforkmedia.com

Branch out from punk, you'll have more success. Do indie, you'll have more to work with and it'll keep your reviews from getting dry. People like vicious reviews. Don't be afraid to rip apart a band's CD. And get your site working!
