Strange, I was talking to dan about this about... a day ago.
The problem with the videos I have have is that... I can only play it streaming from a site, I can't actually download it to my harddrive (or harddisk Question).

Here, try this software, Stream-Down. It's a windows program that allows you to capture streaming feeds and save them as whatever format you want. If you also use Linux, there's mimms for you. I believe mplayer's mencode can also do this.

Google.
You want to find a program that either destreams or demuxes a merged (video + audio) file.

Or else be simplistic and record the streaming file with a microphone Smile.

can you direct me to one of these extractors that fully work, i tried at least 5, and most of them lose quality and only convert half the movie into audio.

Ive tried Virtual Dub, Video to Audio Converter, OSS Audio Converter, and 2 others.

What problem did you have with VirtualDub? I've used it for this exact purpose before, and it worked perfectly.

Here is a heap of tutorials on ripping audio

Link (linkified by Coutsos)

If you manage to rip audio, but it's not in mp3 format, just convert that to mp3 using dbpoweramp (A+ freeware) or your audio-conversion software of choice.

I'm not quite sure I understand... VirtualDub extracts the audio into a wav file (which most mp3 players should play, nonetheless), which you can just convert into an mp3 with your favourite program of choice (audacity isn't bad, if it's not free (forget) use the trial version.

*edit* Who the blast messed up the frames/layout again? Sad

TMPGEnc is for converting between video types, but it has an *excellent* function for ripping audio out. It's free.

http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html

You can then use your program to convert the wav to mp3.
