I recently got accepted into Computer Science at Waterloo, although I'd rather go into Software Engineering.
Looks like I'll be seeing some of you guys next year. |

I got admission to Computer Science yesterday, which was surprising because I haven't had a chance to fill out the AIF yet. Still waiting on Software Engineering, though. |

The AIF for Computer Science wasn't very in-depth, at least compared to the Software Engineering AIF. |

It's alright, just come down the road to WLU, there sure were lots of nice looking girls there while I was there, even a few in comp sci |

I had an average in the mid to high 90s, although I'm not taking IB or AP like alot of you guys, so it's not as impressive as it sounds.
I think what really helped me was my AIF. I went to Shad Valley at the University of Calgary last summer, and I keep a pretty balanced life (I invest a huge portion of my time into school/community theatre/music/improv). I've also done alot of practical group websites/programming projects just for fun over the last few years, many of which have became pretty successful (like www.friendcodes.com). I have also been a volunteer camp counselor for a couple of camps.
The Waterloo AIF was really long and in-depth, so my guess is that the activities listed above had more of an impact on my acceptance than my marks.
Does that help? |

Yeah that helps. I just wanted to make sure that the first batch of offers that went out did go to the people with high marks and good AIFs otherwise I would've been worried about not getting one myself. |

Woot. I got in about a week ago. For those of your still waiting, my average was 80.75 last semester (had two maths and two science at once ). I had a fairly good AIF though. I think that the form help me a lot, because the only saw my 80 averages which is on the lower limit for them.(have about an 85 average now, but they didn't see that as midterms are not done yet). I had about 6 extra curricular's and couple contests wins.
Hope this helps someone, because I remember wishing someone said these things! Good luck.
I look forward to meeting and learning from you guys. |

Yeah I was around a bit above 90 after first semester but I don't have many extracurriculars, mainly because baseball is my life outside school. I'm hoping something like that isn't holding me back :/. |

If anything, your baseball intrests are probobally helping you. They want rounded students (as you can probobally tell from Cinjection's admittance).
Also, what marks (well, classes) were submitted to OUAC from last semester?
I think people who have submitted several of the pre-requisite marks get accepted earlier more easily.
All I had was Advanced Functions, though, so I'm not sure if that's completely true. |

I submitted advanced functions, chem and french immersion and all were low 90s. I guess I'll have to wait till early may |
