computer science is also heavy on math, physics is a different kind of application, but often takes similar skills

At least for me, Physics wasn't about the math, or about memorization, it was about understanding the question and formulating the right procedure to solve the question (ie. problem solving).

Again, it really depends on the teacher and what you make of it. I found high school English pretty fun, though a bit boring at times. As a result, I did really well in it.
