PC Gamer said that the graphics are the best they've seen, that the story line is amazing and action packed, and that most of all it is very scary.

As a con they said that the attempts at humour sucked. I can just imagined

Oh no, we have just released the forces of hell, we are Doomed!

Evil monsters, prepare to meet your Doom!

If that engine overheats, it will be the Doom of all of us!

That would rock. I'd find it funny at least.

ok i had some uncertainty at first which order it was..

THIS IS FROM OPM Official Playstation Magazie Facts (at top of each pages they list some facts about gaming.)

Wold3d came b4 Doom

! thats what i thought but to sovlve any uncertainties there it is..)

so i will back up my previous statement by saying..

Wold3d was their tesst run,..... then they made doom and implemented / fixed all that was missing from the wolf3d.. Razz

Doom 3 is going to make me piss my pants because I get freaked out with Quake (only at some points). Hopefully Doom 3 is going to be a "run around and jump/shoot" game because those are the best fps's.

Jumping makes a game like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 (and older fps's) just because it makes it cool to jump straight onto someone and kill them at the same time.

Maybe I'll get a webcame or something to show my reaction.

doom3 is garbage. Storyline cannot be found at all. Something about landing then fighting. As for the other dooms i dunno, but i didnt like playing them all that much. Quake rocked my world in terms of shooting. But storyline is missing there too. DOOM 3 SUXXORS. Graphics are barely better than anything ive seen. Same shit to me if its not fun. I still play pac-man, why u ask? Because of the incredible graphics? of course NOT! Because the idea is simple and effective. Its incredible! So is mario! And doom3 suxxors completely. End of story. I didnt care for half life 1 either, completely boring, but i havent tried 2. ooh ooh, anyone that does muay thai MUST check out muay thai v.3 on newgrounds.com. Incredible, some kinda unrealistic moves, but its a game, has to be exxagerated and simplified at the same time. CHECK IT OUT!

Doom 3 is amazing.

The engine is beautiful, and actually deserving of the insane system requirements. Lighting, bump mapping, everything...just wow. And the videos on the TVs are impressive. Especially the security cams. Anyone who says that the graphics aren't very impressive are smoking crack rocks. This on low looks nicer than Far-Cry on high (which, I must add, is amazing in itself). On ultra, it looks like one super nice still picture (hah!).

The A.I. is nothing amazing. Enemies run at you, you shoot them, they shoot back (or throw fireballs etc), they (hopefully) die. Believable, but simple. All that they needed though.

Playing at night with the sound cranked and the doors closed (as recommended on the cd case) provided some nice scares. Did I mention the lights? The lights are amazing.

There is a storyline as well. It's comparable in complexity to Half-Life's, meaning it's an excuse to run around and blast demons to shit. No complaints here. You go to hell eventually, and it looks pretty damn nice.

The weapons are interesting, but pretty standard. Pistol, Shotgun, Machine gun, Rocket Launcher, etc. You do get a chainsaw eventually, and this flying buzzing thing called a soul cube.

I have a few complaints however. First, the physics engine makes everything seem unrealistically light, but that could just be my taste. Also, the sound was a bit drab when it came to gun shots. There was no BANG! instead just a pfft pfft pfft. More realistic for the future, but hey, we're fighting demons here, I want my hand cannon! Also, the fucking main character is retarded... this is everyone's biggest complaint about the game: you can't have your flashlight out and one of your guns at the same time. Needless to say, I downloaded a mod right away to change this.

No, Doom III isn't a revolutionary game. The engine is well made, BEAUTIFUL and very optimized, and will definately be used in the future. Doom III is a lot of fun though, even after the initial 'Wow...I hope my warrenty covers drool on the keyboard.' It is definately a step forward in the world of graphics. There are a lot of better games out there, but if you want some mindless and good looking fun, give this a shot.

And finally, netninja, if you even played the game, tell me what happens in the opening sequence of the game.

Confused

Well, just in case you're serious, perhaps you meant Venus? It's also known as Earth's 'sister planet' because they are close to the same size (relatively). And if I recall correctly (which I probably don't) the conditions are nearly the same on Venus. Either that or they're completely different.

Mass of Mars: 6.421e23 kg
Mass of Earth: 5.97e24 kg
Mass of Venus: 4.869e24 kg

Grational pull of Mars is 3.72 m/s^2

and

Grational pull of Venus is 8.87 m/s^2

So you are right and i am wrong, you are right i was thinking of venus.
