hey guys!
I want to ask you guys who have application experience about whether I can get in and the time it usually takes for them to make decisions.
Program applied for:
Software Engineering --> Waterloo
Engineering (option Computer Engineering) --> U of T
I live in Saskatchewan, the equivalent subjects required by Waterloo are:
Advanced Functions: 97
Calculus and Vectors: 98 / IB SL prediction: 7
Chemistry: 100 / IB HL prediction: 7
English: 83
Physics: 98 / IB SL prediction: 6
With an extra highest G12 level course 99, I have an average of 95.8
I know that Waterloo and U of T both claim to have a cut-off at mid 80's
BUT I've also heard about this "competitive average" thing that is way higher than mid-80's? for example I've heard of Waterloo's SE competitive average is about 95? Is this true?
I'm also in my school's Student Council as the Webmaster and I have had about 3 volunteer jobs during my high school years.
Is that enough to get in these two programs? and which one should be easier to get in?
Second thing, I've already sent my mid-year transcript to both of the universities. I wanna ask people who got admitted, when did you guys got your admission decision? How long after you submit your transcripts?
Thank you guys for anything you contribute! : ) |

I have currently applied to Waterloo Software, Toronto CS and received admittance from Waterloo CS. It should easily be enough to get in.
Toronto says they do their admissions for people outside of Ontario as their information is completed but I'm not sure what information is all needed for that. Ontario early admissions start mid-February for Toronto and I haven't heard of anyone getting into Waterloo Engineering programs yet and they have similar averages to what you have posted. I received my CS admission but not SE as well also with marks that are comparable. |
