Both V1 and REV require you to purchase a meal plan and provide only a public fridge and microwave.

The prices listed for all residences are per-person. If you plan on living with friends and are interested in cooking for yourself, you may want to consider an off-campus apartment to save money.

Ya lol UW residences are expensive... But if you live on residence you can play as much pool and ping pong as you want XD, and they're close to campus... btw, $5000 for 3 people for 8 months would be about $200/month each, even in university you'll never find something at that price, even during summer the lowest you'll probably find is $300/month if the people are desperate to sublet...

In first year I think most people go with res anyways just to get used to university... But after that you can save ALOT of money... Where I am now is probably about the same size as a UWP or MKV suite, but instead of paying $500/month for UW residence I'm only paying $350/month, and I'm the same distance away from UW as people who live on res...

Hey guys. I just stumbled upon this thread while looking through the forums. It has actually been quite useful for me as I am pretty much in the same position as gosensgo101 except for the height issue.
I was just wondering, are there lots of spots for people in UWP who haven't organized to stay with a group from HS or anything? I want to stay in UWP, but none of my friends are going to Waterloo, so I wasn't sure if I would have much of a chance of getting in there. Also, would you guys recommend UWP if I am not going to be with people I know, or should I stick with single or double rooms in V1 or REV. What kind of residence did you guys stay in, and how did you like it?

Any and all input is appreciated Smile

Thanks

This exactly. Next term I've rented a house that's not as close as UWP but there's a bus stop right outside my front door that goes straight to the davis center...

If you are interested in living with other students in a similar situation -- yes. You'll be taking a chance as to who you'll end up with, but there is some chance that they'll turn out to be interesting people. Having roommates will probably help you expand your social circle and meet new people at the University.

Specifying roommate(s) is optional. I don't know for sure but I think most of UWP roommates are not requested ones.

I made the mistake of rooming with an acquaintance from high school. Don't. Chances are good that the matching system will group you with compatible people as long as you are honest with the info you provide.

Or you could end up with the horror story like my friend had of a roommate. If you go with the autoselection, you're gambling for 8 months of your life. If you know 2 people you think you'd be comfortable rooming with, pick them. Tell them of any of your quirks, hopefully they'll share theirs and you won't have an issue.

What was the horror story? (Just curious.)
