it's true there's a tv in every room (including the atrium) and the all teachers have their own laptops and the gym isn't that amazing... we also have about 8-9 computer labs (including a 3D animation lab), two drama rooms, a tech wing, a bordcast studio, a dance studio, two dark rooms, and we also have a work out room... I have no clue how many science labs we have (cuz there are a bunch >.<)... but this is just cuz our school is new...

Andy with another classic burn, ne way- here we go-

St.Basil Secondary
Sault.Ste.Marie Ontario
its preppy, close minded and not very good at anything
most people from here like to think that they are going on to bigger and better things but usually end up righ back here the year after they graduate to play hockey or football then go to southern ontario for a year of university, where they get the ever living shit scared out of them because they are only used to nice comfy inbred citylife.

we do not participate in any Comp.Sci. or math contests. if we did, there would be only a few of us that would try ... and obviously get destroyed.

However, it is the only highschool in our board that offers Discrete Math
(theres only 3 schools in our board and one of them is an all girl's school)

But I haven't seen Dodge's name on any trophies that actually brought our school to #1. Shocked

I wouldn't put us in top ten in North America either. Really really smart schools don't go to ARML. Philip Exetor and Thomas Jefferson school aren't the best in the U.S. for math. All the uberl33t USAMO people comes from obscure towns that have like a population of 200.

but on the other hand. I'm pretty sure we are better than that whatchamacallit school that elcomandante came from.

We have a fair amount of people in G&D and Compsci, and our math department was best in ontario a year or two back, they gave us a bunch of calculators.. i guess we arent doing to bad for ourselves.

Student Council does a really big job in terms of what to spend money on, actually. All the money from yearbook sales and registration goes to the student council.
Aoi wrote:

I'd say it's more the reputation of the school. The reputation is really important in whether a student/teacher decides to go to that school. And if you have great students and great teachers, a bad principal means nothing. Actually, I think the principal has very little to do with how good the school is.

student council also needs the approve of the principal to acutally use the money and no what you just said is wrong it depends on the principal to hire the teachers I KNOW THIS CUZ I'M MAJORING IN EDUCATION!

Author:  Cervantes [ Sat Jan 22, 2005 10:12 pm ]
Post subject:

Yeah, of course the principal has to approve/hire the teachers. But the thing is, the principal can't say which teachers want to teach at their school. It's the reputation of the school that attracts teachers to teach there (and other factors, such as pay, location, friends, etc.).

semestered schools suck.
Semestered is good for school boards and schools, because schools hire teachers by the semester and textbooks get the better end of it.
BUT non-semestered is still better for students.

It can't (legally) give Turing out for free--to everyone that is. It probably gives it out to it's computer science students, because your school paid extra money for that distributive right.
