In about eight hours we will find out if we have a Conservative majority or (hopefully) minority.

The polls opened at 8:00 PM? Why so late? Shouldn't they keep it open from 8:00 AM? More people can this way vote....? iunno....

Either way, been watching the elections ever since it started- pretty interesting campaigning, lots of personal attacks.

I would like either the Conservatives to win or NPD (Minority).
Damn, 18... they should allow 16 year olds to vote -.-

Then you'd only have to wait 4 more years, eh? Wink

Polls should be closed by then, after which we get to see the early results. Canadian law forbids posting results before the last poll closes so as not to influence people's votes.

The polls opened early this morning, definitely not at 8:00 PM.

Voter turnout: 14,815,680 of 22,812,683 registered electors (64.9%)

thats up from 60.5% in the 2004 election so its a good sign but its still hard to believe that about a 1/3 of Canadians didn't vote.

That is 65% of regiestered voters, if you never vote it is poisable to not be a regietered voter. Also thos stats whould be effected by popualtion growth sinc e poelop becoming of voting age whould not be regested unless they vote.

Presumably if 16 year olds could vote the country would go down the drain. We had a school election (didn't really count...duh) and they told us who won and it was the GREEN PARTY!?!?!...like I said "down the drain".

*** "The term Down The Drain" is not in reference to any particular party*cough *cough Green Party *cough *cough

i honestly dont believe that 16 year olds should be allowed to vote unless they're highly aware of the political situation.. i mean how many 16 year olds actually care about tax cuts and such? and how many of them care about child support? to the mass majority of them, its just a game

Our school participated in that too, and our results were eerily accurate. Our top 3 choices (NDP, Conservative, Liberal, in that order) were equal to our riding's votes to within 2%. The only real difference was in the lower parties -- the Marxist-Lennist party got 8% of the votes at our school, only 1% in our riding. With Green Party it was reversed, pretty much. But the essence of it was dead-on.
