Although I've probably said it too many times by now, I'll be going to the University of Waterloo (which is in Waterloo (naturally)). Mechatronics Engineering, UW Place.

I just finished my 1B term a week ago. I'm starting my job at Waterloo in the end of the month (web development for CECS @ UW).

lyam_kaskade: you would be interested to know that besides me, there's another 5 or so MTE09s working on/near campus during the fall term (that, and the entire MTE08). If you need any advice Wink And could I also borrow your Calculus 1 notes as you take them? I'm going to need to rewrite that exam... Confused

I'll be at the Teh Newbian Institute for Madder Skillz. Got my acceptance Wednesday before last for the Headshots degree (was originally waitlisted), so now I'll be double majoring with that and Pwning Bitches.

Some Calculus notes in exchange for help? Yeah sure sounds like a sweet deal. Like Martin said (awhile ago), I'm going to have to hit the ground running. Probably need some help.
But what happened to your calculus notes? Eh

Also, MTE08/MTE09? what's the 8 and 9 mean? And what's your co-op placement on campus?
And since I'm asking so many questions anyway, do alot of people bring their laptops to class? (this is an unrelated idea I had)

Ah, good choices! I hear that the "Duping" and "Elite Mobs" diplomas are in real demand these days, too!

Yeah, I discussed that when I met with some of the Professors on the Open House day to see what options I had. (Man, you totally should've come!). From what they told me, with something like Duping or E. Mobs, you can get easy money (well, easier). But I think I could get more satisfaction this way. It's a pretty broad choice of classes for first year, so I'll get a feel for most of the subjects anyways, and then switch in second year if I think that's best.

The 08 and 09 are according to the year of graduation (for instance, since Tony and I are the class of MTE 09, we will graduate in 2009 ... or we're supposed to anyway >_<). I'm one of those people who will be working for UW ^_^.

To answer your question, no, not many people bring their laptops to class. They're not very useful for note taking; much of our notes consist of formulae and diagrams that would just be easier to sketch out. There isn't really too much text to write down.

Oh, I have my calc notes... I typed up the wrong thing Razz I'm looking to get some inside info on the exam content. Like the prof will tell you what sections to focus on, things like that. Also copies of various handouts like course outline (in case they changed something) and current year's labs.

Your class is identified by: Abbreviation of program name followed by year of graduation. Your class will be MTE10 (or MTE2010). I'm in 09, and the kids who are 2 years ahead (MTE08) will also be on campus.

And I'll be working for CECS @ UW. You might end up talking to me before one of your interviews in fall Wink

Oh yeah, laptops.. I got tired of dragging those 4 lb of extra hardware..

besides, you just end up setting up a private network in class and play unreal tournament.. which kind of distracts the rest of the class sitting behind you, especially if you do loud victory noises when your cheap shot actually manages to kill off an opponent much better than you.

if middle of exams = under girlfriend's menacing glare, then I'd believe it Razz

Coutsos, the stupid deodorant commercials are trying to outdo each other, a new AXE commercial's been airing in movie theatres (I don't watch much tv), and its somewhat less revolting than the bloody zit commercial (who names a drink bloody zit anyhow?) First that new one comes out with women in a supermarket tackling this dude down, now axe comes up with the AXE institute, with scantily clad female professors. Anyhow, I think its stupid, maybe it's cause I'm asian Rolling Eyes

i'm going back to good old WCI Laughing

Hmm... "Hot for teacher"???
Well, I haven't been to the movies since I saw Fantastic Four starring Horatio Hornblower, so I don't seem to recall that particular commercial. I did, however, see this really dumb one (advertising birth control pills apparently) involving some freak with a uni-brow. FFS, man, FFS.

It's Teh Newbian Institute for Madder Skillz, and don't worry, you can easily find it in the Penny Arcade archives. Really, we haven't been trying to keep it a secret from you.
