Everyone makes mistakes. My first one was letting my family use the computer unsupervised.

33 viruses and 681 pieces of spyware later, I have everything backed up and it's time to reinstall Windows XP. Joy.

So I put the disk in, reboot the computer and start the Windows install. Random BSOD. Stuff I read on the net leads me to believe flashing my bios will work.

It didn't. Now, in fact, my bios simply won't detect my hard-drive or my CD-Rom.

Help. Please...

EDIT: The bios is an ASUS A7V333, and it boots until it should give me an error that there isn't an OS, and instead says PRESS A KEY TO RESTART.

For my family, I think a calculator without batteries would be safer.

But what if they try to make a battery out of a potatoe or a lemon?

Eerrr double check to make sure the tattoo information is correct? Or.. do a destructive software reload ._.;

Switch IDE cables. Flash your BIOS again. If all else still fails, replace your hard drive and CD-ROM. If THAT still fails, replace your motherboard.

... but yeah that's just the steps we take at work "until some magic happens again" .... :S

lol my home computer beats yours though, 135 viruses, and I think two thousand something pieces of spyware.

It's better to fail and know why, than to succeed and not know how.
