Anime wallpaper

Why is it that anime wallpapers are ALWAYS either 800x600 or 1024x768? Or are there some hidden websites of none crappy wallpaper images that others know of?

well there's
www.animewallpaper.com <= very basic one with large collection
http://www.kazeninaru.net/animerevolution/main.html <= they do custom wallpapers
http://www.abstractanime.com/ <= not a large collection but has pretty good ones
http://www.allrpg.com/wallpaper.php3 <= RPG walls, but not all that great
http://www.banime.com/anime/wallpapers.php <= large verity of anime
http://downloadanime.org/forums/index.php?act=module&module=gallery <= very large verity but you really have to search through it

Or send me a bunch of images of what you want on a wallpaper and I'll make you one WHEN i have time

Thanks for the links, but it seems alot of them are still either 800x600 or 1024x768. Still found a few good ones though. Also, that first link doesn't really "work" all that much.

Cool, but I'll have to find cool images...

The real reason is that Japanese people are shorter than everyone else, so they don't need as big a monitor.

Author:  Aoi [ Tue Apr 05, 2005 9:45 am ]
Post subject:

no martin you're wrong... those dimensions are actually the standern dimensions for most computer resolutions so that's why people usually make wallpapers in those dimensions

Author:  Tony [ Tue Apr 05, 2005 10:06 am ]
Post subject:

No May, you're wrong... 800x600 is hardly a standart anymore. Resolutions span pass 2000x now. Laptops and dual monitors provide an array of widescreen alternatives Wink

Bottom line though.. wallpapers are usually drawn at 300+ DPI and can be scaled and cropped to any size Razz

Standard resolution is 1280x1024, which is the resolution that 17" and 19" LCD's run at.

Because I posted in it.

Why all the negativity?

Author:  Mazer [ Tue Apr 05, 2005 2:06 pm ]
Post subject:

Because I don't like small wallpapers. Although I've got a pretty decent wallpaper featuring Raziel at just 1024x768 on my 1600x1200 desktop, so it's not all bad.

Author:  Aoi [ Tue Apr 05, 2005 2:36 pm ]
Post subject:

no actually if you check the res on most walls that you find online they're 72 dpi due to the reason that it's just better for web based as to the reason why I forgot =P

well ya tony it's not but not all people have upgrade their monitors and not all people uses duel monitor! also fact is those resolutions have been the main ones for the past few years. Even photoshop has it set to those standerds when you go to make a new wallpaper (unless you fiddle with the number) but all in all if you just resize or strech the image not much res is lost if it was 1024x768 and I'm blahbling on cuz I'm have a sleep at the moment and if this doesn't make sense I'm sorry

That's ok, 800x600 sized images are large enough for your asian monitor Wink

Haha, I'm just kidding Razz Though your desktop's monitor is scary small.. and dark Confused And I would complain about the chair, but this is getting way off topic Laughing

If you like, you're welcome to buy my family a new, and better monitor. As well as a chair to go with.

Very Happy

I wouldn't be able to tell you seeing as banime appears to be down right now. From what I remember, it wasn't really that amazing... just two characters (one for each screen) on a black background.

Hm... Have you ever heard of the Sailor Moon musicals (SeraMyu), or even the Prince of Tennis (TeniMyu) ones? It's just a bunch of actors/actresses running around, singing and dancing on stage, telling the story of the anime/side story to the anime.

In fact, the Bleach Musical (BuriMyu? o_O) is going to have some of the same actors as TeniMyu.

Really, Martin? XD Remember the Live Action Sailor Moon opening that I showed you last term? The on-stage musical productions of anime are much, MUCH scarier. xD

Tony if you're refering to SukiSyo, that's just brutal because it even kind of made my head hurt in the beginning episodes. And then it's just hilariously cute and fluffy 8D ....I'm going to force you guys to watch Gravitation some day.

I have the first six episodes of that, but haven't watched past maybe the first six *minutes*. I probably should give it another shot ^^

Yoko Kanno still wins, just because she's got her own freaking language. xD

When Yuki Kajiura does that... well then, we'll see 8D Besides, she mostly sticks to Latin, English and Japanese I think...? :S

Six minutes...that's all! Dude, you don't know what you're missing out on. Seriously, this series is amazing. Oh, and don't bother about all the references to Bebop people make...it's irritating to hear people saying stuff like "The best animé since Bebop" or "To hiphop what Bebop is to jazz" or whatever...so they're made by mostly the same people...woo-hoo. [sigh].

Ah well, that's just my thoughts at least.

Ack, it appears that I only have the first five episodes, not six. I just finished watching the first ep, and I think I like it enough to continue... just the problem is, it's licensed now ><

OVA's? As in Samurai Champloo OVA's? Are you sure? 'Coz as far as I know, no such thing exists...
I found the pun in Yakitate! funny, other than that haven't seen any of it. Is it good?
@brenn - it's lisenced eh? Well...given that I will buy the DVDs eventually, what's wrong w/ giving them a preview right now? In their entirety...[grins].

Oh you. I wasn't making fun of the bread making anime. I was making fun of Meng for reading it (well, the manga, not the anime). Also, I was making fun of the bread making anime. No, wait. Oh...

I might get a few eps of it in the summer to watch, but after being told that there are competitions, I can't imagine it being anything else besides Yu-Gi-Oh! with bread.
"I play Whole Wheat(TM) in attack mode and place one yeast(TM) card on the field to power up my bread by 600 points. Your move!"

"Hahahaa! Foolish mortal, did you think I would be surprised by such a move? You'll regret being so naive! I play The Mould(TM), which reduces the power of your Whole Wheat(TM) by 1200 points!"

"No!"

"Oh yes! Now, watch as my great Blue Bread White Flour(TM) destroys your pitiful food and takes your life points down to zero!"

"Grr! [to self:]There must be something we can do! All of our friends our counting on us! YUGIOHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

(at this point, the "Millenium Loaf" around his neck starts radiating a bright light and begins spinning around and....)

EDIT: Maybe it's funny, but for now I think I'll stick to my tried and true Cowboy Bebop.
EDIT2: OMG! I just watched the last episode this morning! Noooo...

Yes. Movie. Head over to BoxTorrents if you want it. Believe me, it's worth it.
It's got a lot more char. development in it...since so many people love to point out how slowly the chars in Bebop develop...
In my own little insignificant opinion, I would aruge that the development seen in them is sufficient, that most are complex enough as it is coming into the series. The development is a lot slower than in other animé simply to reflect the style of the whole thing. Spike won't change drastically since he's Mizu-san (Mr. Water, hehehe). Jet is...welll, Jet. Stubborn as the jet he flies. Faye is too screwed up, has lived too many lives to undergo too much change. And well, Ed is just Random(-chan).

Now I want to watch Bebop again. Laughing

Spoiler alert. Highglight to read.

Ed was awsome! The way she handled Mpyu was hilarious...but then again so was she...and her dad! Oh man, the way Spike *tried* to beat him up, of course to no avail. I don't recall if we ever found out Ed's real name...I think we did in that orphan episode...meh, it's been a while.

Ah, you got my hopes up for nothing! That's one of the sites I've seen before (one of the reasons I started this topic so long ago). Not alot of anime that I've seen, so I just started randomly selecting titles and still never found anything more than 1024x768. Sad
