you could also use a program like adobe audition, just open the file and save it as a differnet type.

I think Smacker can do that...

Or perhaps it was blink, but I haven't used these in years.

(both should be free still...)

I'm alright now. I've found another program called "iTunes" from Apple I believe that converts the format easily( but very slow ). It can be found here:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Anyways thanks for all help

Any of those programs will do. A quicker one for mass conversions I would reccoment dBpower AMP. Google it, there's the base program with base conversions, and plugins to expand conversions. It does it reasonably fast on a good computer (entire album in 5 mins on a P3 700). I use it my self, as all other ones I found really do suck, and 1 by 1 is too slow.

Interesting, Leftover. I just downloaded it and am liking it. Smile
What's the best compression for audio files, currently? .ogg?

Ogg Vorbis would do it, however I loathe that format (my 40gb mp3 player won't... or rather didn't read that format on older firmware). I'm not sure about making them into audio CD's as I haven't made an audio CD in 4 years. But most programs like XMMS or WinAmp will read them no problem.

Teehee, winAMP. I was using that, but now I'm using dBpowerAMP. Hot damn!, it rocks.
When I asked about .ogg, I'm mostly asking in terms of compression, not how widely accepted it is. Oh, and I don't have an mp3 player, so I don't mind not being able to play .ogg on them Wink.
