Post subject: | |
very nice. i would love to see the code for that and play around with it. just one question is there a finish to the maze? |
Author: | josh [ Tue Nov 16, 2004 8:12 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
it might just be that I have a high resolution, but the actual window that the mazze is in is very small and I find it hard to look at becuase of all the white on the screen. It is really neat though. |
Author: | zomg [ Tue Nov 16, 2004 8:14 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
there is no finish to the maze right now. this was mainly just a test program, but i might make and end to the maze some time and add new levels (see page 3 for version 1.1) |

Wow thats amazing. It would be cool if you added textures to the walls and maybe make it bigger. Could you tell us how you made it, maybe just the basic concept? |

Author: | zomg [ Fri Nov 19, 2004 4:16 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
im not really sure how that works but ive seen catalysts ray casting and it is allot smother... EDIT: Source Now in the zip file with the exe |
Author: | zomg [ Fri Nov 19, 2004 4:19 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
u need the .map file to run this program(downloadable from top) |
Author: | AsianSensation [ Fri Nov 19, 2004 4:35 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
yeah, definitely try raycasting as your next step. We have the full source code for a raycasting engine already written in compsci.ca. You just have to search for it. The pseudo raycasting, however, is pretty well done, plus you shared your code. So +25 bits |

Post subject: | |
i'll probably look into that after i complete this file transfer thing formy chat program but thanks for telling me about that raycasting engine im gonna look into that plus thanks for the encouraging coments and to think... when i first showed this thing people at my school just laffed and said it was crap lol |

Post subject: | |
Ok here's version 1.1 (i guess) some updates and stuff nothing big im working on new maps (that have endings) and im gonna put backgrounds and sounds, and fonts in version 1.2 this version includes... - smaller windows for less waisted space - new colours (look better than ugly green) - a bit faster of a start up (ill abalosh slow crap in version 1.2) - compass isnt on the maze any more (moved) |
Author: | Viper [ Fri Nov 26, 2004 12:20 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
that first person shooter is a good idea after you get that u should try n make it so you can switch between views (e.g first to 3rd to birds eye) |
Author: | zomg [ Fri Nov 26, 2004 2:49 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
ya that would be awsome but any way here's v 1.1 (pg 3 now) new levs will be coming soon |

Nice...but even when one reaches the end ("3"), it still doesn't end...it just considers the space as non-traversable-wall-type-stuff. |
Author: | zomg [ Sat Nov 27, 2004 9:42 pm ] |

ya i kno about that whole thing im still working on it |
Author: | m&m [ Sat Nov 27, 2004 9:45 pm ] |

Author: | cool dude [ Sun Nov 28, 2004 3:33 pm ] |

very nice and true u should make an end to the maze because it will actually be cool to play it, but for now it's very cool. good job! P.S. tell us when u r making a new version with the end to the maze please |
Author: | zomg [ Sun Nov 28, 2004 5:15 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
ahh the hell with it. i think i will stick with turing as i learn visual basic what could it hurt? maze version 1.2 will be coming out shortly... |

You said you recently made this, just wondering how long a time you consider recent.. as here is the exact same thing posted over a year ago.. http://www.compsci.ca/v2/viewtopic.php?t=1267&highlight=raycasting of course the name "emmzee '97" is no longer there, and its black background but, yep |

thats where the number 3 is in the map file(open it in notepad to look at the maze and edit it) pretty easy actually |

go ahead |

Think we could get source code? I really want to know what the metrics are so I could make a map generator. I'd love to play with the code too |

Ya i kinda realize its supicious, but emmzee97" and me are brothers and believe me im not stupid enough to plagerise, especially off this site 97 is his favorite number btw not a year he worked on this program with me when i was first learning turing i didnt kno that he even posted this program... i thought it was lost until i found it on one of my old harddrives... he's at college right now so anyway o well srry for any confusion ive already explained this to pickles |

i liked how u changed the colours and added a quit button, but u should make a finish still and another sugestion would be when u want to move sideways actually face the view to that side and then start moving. |
Author: | zomg [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 1:32 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
cool dude wrote: ...another sugestion would be when u want to move sideways actually face the view to that side and then start moving.
what exactly do u mean? do u mean turn to the way that u pressed? cuz when right is pressed, the view changes to the right same with the left back just moves u back facing the same way forward just moves u forward facing the same way please clarify what u mean |
Author: | MihaiG [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 3:06 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
thats trippy its like the windows 98 maze screen saver... i still can't finish it.... |
Author: | zomg [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 3:32 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
ya there is no finish to the maze but im starting maze 2.0 on dec 17 heres a list of updates -maze finish -larger maze screen -sounds -different levels -different walls anything more u would like to see in version 2.0, please post it |
Author: | Neo [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 4:07 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
When I move forwards and there is a wall in front of me I can see through the wall for a split second then the wall reappears. |
Author: | zomg [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 4:17 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
its somewhat of a glitch... i think it has to do with view.update or something anyway for the past couple of weeks ive been working on a maze generator... it is just about finished and it will work with my maze program |
Author: | cool dude [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 4:57 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
after u make version 2.0 u could try to update it to make it look more like a game. wat i mean is that u could make maybe an AI like in pacman thats chasing after u and then u have to collect all the dots, and find the key to the next level without being eaten. since its a maze it won't be easy to find the key and that will make the game more challenging. |
Author: | zomg [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 6:47 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
thats a good idea, with the key thing and everything it would be kinda hard to make a pac man game becasue u coulnt see behind u... o well i get the basic donr first before i do anything else tho anyways version 2.0 beta will be released some time before the new year (i hope) and following that the final version will be coming in january or feburary keep it coming with the suggestions tho |
Author: | cool dude [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 7:27 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
suggestion: Dont say your final version because u could always improve on it. |
Author: | zomg [ Tue Dec 14, 2004 8:10 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
i dont mean final, final version. i will of course keep updating it if improve on it then it would probably be version 2.1 |

Author: | zomg [ Sat Dec 18, 2004 6:58 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
srry im just getting sick of people who do nothing but flame any way ive begun with maze 2.0 and the thing im noticing is the hardest. is making the all the walls larger becasue they all have to saty proportionate to each other or the whole maze gets screwed up and u cant see anything |
