I am currently learnign java and need to know what the fill command is. I know its a really basic thing but I can't seem to find it. I have drawn some odd shapes with lines and want to fill them in. I am also using "ready to program".

Sory but ready to program dose not use the real java APIs so most of the mods here will not be able to awser your question in terms of RTP. If you whonted how to do it in real java then we may be able to help more.

Edit: i just looked throw the sorce code of RTP (the console graficks part) and i can not find anything that looks like it whould fill in a shape....On a side note i did find more reasons why sun should sue holth tho.....

ha and right now i just had a really bright idea... lets put holt out of business Laughing by creating an opensource port of their entire library.. written from the ground up ofcourse.. no code copied whatsoever.

That would just be perpetuating a fallacy. Students should be taught to the standards. Anything else is wasting their time, since they'll have to turn around and unlearn bad habits before they can learn the proper way.

Porting a bad system is just encouraging people to continue using it.

its like m$.. if u can;t beat emm.. join em.. and overthrow them.

but the plot is something like this: once u have a strong hold of the market.. (free market whatever) just stop support and provide documentation on swithing to the pure java way of doing things... or... ehm.. something like that... anyways

That assuming we do not run holth out of buizness then destroy all of our ported system Wink

Tho the evil whould still speard, i whonder if there is any way we could just get sun to sue them?

you could (probably) just complain to SUN providing them with some solid facts.. and evidence.. basically doing all their homework Razz... i dont think they give a damn about a small company like holt anyhow.

That very same attitude of "embrace, extend, extinguish" is killing Microsoft. Keep in mind that you can never remove a feature once you've added it, so if you tried to clone Holt's Java APIs, you'd have to keep them up-to-date with whatever changes Holt made. You'd be a slave to their whims, rather than the more reasonably conservative whims of Sun Microsystems.

Microsoft is so bogged down now because they created their monopoly by always being compatible when others broke compatibility. Now they're dieing from having to maintain all of that, while others move quickly forward into new territory.

yes but u see.. once u are compatible with holt u add new and enticing features to your side of the product but still holding on to the compatibility.. and the fact that ur stuff is free.. and u get more for the same thing... i mean people would rather use your stuff to holt's... then ur plan is half-way in action.

PS: you may (not want to|or seriously want to) post.. look at ur post count.. :p
of course this depends on how superstitious you are Razz Laughing
