Well the mozilla foundation has released the first public preview of Firefox 1.0, and Spread firefox is there to spread the word about the browser and aiming for 1 Million downloads in 10 days. If you haven't taken the plunge now is the perfect time to do so, tell your neighbours, your family, and your dog about it, make flyers, place it in your e-mail signature, convert your boss or get your university (college) to install it campus wide. In case none of you know where to get the latest release, click here, or here if you want to give me your referal enjoy, and if you want tell us how many people you've converted ![]() I guess this also means that their not far off gold, which is an amazing thing for an amazing product I've been using all year. sfx team wrote: In just under 100 hours, we have smashed through our one million download campaign--with 6 days still to go! This is the fastest adoption rate we have ever experienced, higher than every previous Firefox release. But it's not time to relax our efforts. How soon can we break through 2 million? We'll have more information on a new campaign on Monday. In the mean time, let us know what you think of Firefox Preview Release. Drop us a review at c|net, BetaNews (win mac linux) or ZDNet. We'll incorporate the feedback as we drive to 1.0. One last thing: remember to sign up for the sfx newsletter and be the first one to hear when we smash through our goals. People who receive the newsletter will also receive special sneak previews of future sfx campaigns. --Blake, on behalf of the sfx team http://www.spreadfirefox.com Well 1M dls, hooah! |

I just got firefox. So far it seems pretty good. I got some nice features that IE doesn't have. I like it. |

anywhere where I can submit suggestions? cause the only reason I still HAVE the adware ridden IE is becauseI need windows explorer. and if you type C:\ in firefox... its just not the same. |

Paul, are you looking for a file manager from firefox? |
Author: | wtd [ Wed Oct 20, 2004 5:44 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
Indeed. Windows Explorer, and Internet Explorer are two different things, though both rely on much the same underlying code. |

ech, I treat them as the same program. Since if u type an URL into IE, it gets u the same thing as Windows explorer, vice versa. The stupid banner pops up in my windows explorer sometimes too. Its just a matter of convenience. |

Getting banners means it's time to format. |

And install a real OS... |
Author: | Paul [ Thu Oct 21, 2004 2:14 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
Well the thing is I can get rid of most banners by finding their source on my HD, most adware/spyware also, even if they are hidden in obscure places in hidden file folders. But this one I just can't for some reason, even when I put in a boot disk and deleleted the dir from DOS (because u can't delete it while its in use in windows, AND when u end task it (it happens to be iexplore.exe), it just instantaneously comes back). |

paul: the problem could be that there are two seperate programs that will reinstall each other right away if you try to delete one of them. Im not sure how you would go about fixing that though. |

Why don't you install it your self? I installed it on pretty much every comp in the library and next semeter all the comps in my BTT class room will have it. |

My teacher is a little uptight about stuff like that in particular, and he already told me to stick with IE. As well, I've already used up most of his patience so I can't really push my luck much more. |

yea... wehat he said.. without the guards on options.... it could do a lot of havoc.. so i dont think many teachers would like.. i instaleld to my network drive on school.. works that way good.. and it doesnlt affect other users.. only thing is.. if i change computers my extensions go away. but i stay on same comp anyways... even tho they are in application folder.. its cuz of registry and my lack of admin rights.. maybe i should use that BootableCD that i was talkign about in Crackdown.. meh.. |

why is the spyware such a problem??? Doesn't your skool have something like subzero that will get rid of it, and if u did change firefox options wouldn't subzero chnage them back??? Whenever I change the defaults in word at my skool, it always changes them back AND I HATE IT!!!! |

does it keep settings for some programs if u stay on same computer? if they on the harddrives as c:\windows\profiles\uername just copy that folder to your network drive.. and copy it to the new computer you sit at everytime u change..! works great.. if u cant see the C drive in mycomputer.. try right clicking anywhere.. press NEW, then shortcut then c:\windows\profiles\username then voila.. u can keep your settings when u move from PC to PC. if u cant make shortuts.. ur fucked... our school is plauged by spyware in the library comps.. thats another reason why i use FIREFOX.. i dont got those anoying extra bars from idiots.... liek yahoo search bar.. mywebsearch and many more retarded ones.. |
