Maybe, just maybe, he realized that CS isn't for him. He might be pursuing the arts now after his visit to compsci.ca or maybe we just scared him away.

Computer science overlaps with the arts on many scales, namely video games.

And plus:

A sufficiently advanced technology is indistiguishable from magic. And magic is clearly art.

The technology is magic thing was a quote, don't want to take credit for that, it belongs to Arthur C. Clarke and his 3 rules, (which I think are amazing rules to live by if you do any sort of research)
