I just graduated with a B.Comm and haven't found a job yet. I was thinking of going into computer programming -- but the thing is, I'm don't know too much about it. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the CPA program at Seneca@York would be feasible for a person like me. It's just something that I've been thinking about and this forum seemed like a good place to start! |

It's a little hard to judge what a person like you is just from the fact that you graduated with a B.Comm and haven't found a job yet ![]() a. Do some online programming tutorials (you might have to download and install some "IDE" like Eclipse or Visual Studio). Maybe get a book too, like Beginning Java (or whatever language). b. Maybe you could take a course (night?) in something like Java programming. That might help you to know if you are going to like programming. Some people just aren't into programming, despite the number of available jobs and their decent salaries. But if you think that you really like it, then a 3 year college program is surely do-able. Especially since you have shown that you can complete a 4 year degree already. |

To add to what was already answered, if you just graduated, it might take time to find a related job. How many B. Comm's are getting jobs right away from your program? How long are you expecting the process of finding a job to take? Are you unhappy with the field of communications, and do the potential jobs in that path not interest you? If you are unhappy and the jobs don't interest you, then it might be worth looking at other options. Otherwise, keep looking if you just graduated. If tech interests you, have you tried finding junior business analyst or junior project manager jobs in tech companies? Or perhaps jobs working in the media relations or corporate communications departments of tech companies? |
