6 grade 12 courses

I've picked courses for next year, grade 12. I have calculus and vectors, data management, advanced functions, english and computer engineering grade 12 and a co-op. The problem is, that's only 5 courses counting towards university application, but I have grade 12 programming right now in grade 11. Will my grade 12 programming class that i have right now count for university application?

Yes.

Though... no sciences in grade 12? Razz

Aren't physics and chemistry required for a lot of Computer Science programs?

I plan on enrolling in all three, mainly because I'm also interested in biology. Also, I'm sure that you could manage to enroll in the required
science courses and still have a spare. I'm taking all courses you're taking excluding the co-op, plus all 3 sciences. And I still have 2 spares for grade 12.

Though I'm seriously considering dropping one of the courses in replacement of French...

Not really; might be for Software Engineering though. As usual, check the requirements for the specific Universities you're considering applying to.

Any engineering requires chemistry and physics.

Heres a little bit of info that Waterloo told me when I called them up about Comp Sci.

The cutoff is low 80s, but they also look at another average. This is your 2 maths and english. So advanced functions and calculus, plus english. This average has to be 85+ or you dont get co-op

Im assuming you're applying to Waterloo for CompSci

Waterloo Software Engineer

Tony you're right. Physics and chemistry aren't required for computer science, while software engineering requires enrollment in both classes.
I really need to check these pages more often...

Yup, plus your 3 other top marks. So for Hamid I guess that would be all of his grade 12 courses.

I don't think that's right - I have a 83.3% between the two maths & english and I still got COOP

Got into CS Coop with 86.5 average, and an 83 average for (2 maths + english).

Okay, thanks for the info. I am applying to waterloo for computer science, im not really interested in physics/chemistry, so i decided to go with cs. cs sounds more interesting to me

I'm not sure about other schools, but I had to take so many science or business credits as part of my CS program. I took first-year chem, and most of it was just a review of grade 12 chem.

Right, I know at McGill the CS students have the same first year as the Physics, Chem, and Biology students. Also, @hamid14 you should try to be more interested in at least physics, because so many computer applications involve some aspect of the field (do you think 3D engines and games just magically know how light rays should bend through a medium, or what the result of a collision between two objects might be?).
