Basically I'm too cheep to buy one, any one will do as long as I can change audio levels, and flip the video. |

Old, but I'm quite sure VDM can at least flip the video and maybe do audio. Audacity can easily handle audio. |

WMM always crashes on me because my videos are too great for it. I'm currently testing VDM, I'll let you know how it goes....in about 2 hours :/ Know of any with a better GUI? Lastly, can Photo Shop Elements edit video? I might be able to use my fathers copy. [Dam im behind on tech] |

I've heard iMovie is amazing. |

isn't that a mac program? I would assume he would've said that if he had a mac, and it looks like he doesn't. But you can get microsoft expressions 4 for free from dreamspark, you can also get all the visual studio IDE's, and all of their servers, internet explorer 9, small basic, and virtual pc. It's actually straight up amazing. |

Can you still torrent things like Aperture and stuff on a iMac or MacBook Pro? |

I don't believe so. Last time I used it (a few versions ago), it could only piece together pictures and videos in the form of a slideshow. Premiere Elements (which can be bought both in a bundle with PS Elements or seperately) is actually not that bad for home-video editing. So far, it's the only video editing software that I actually liked that's not too expensive. |

Do you think this holiday season would be a good time to buy an iMac? Why or why not? Do you think Apple will be releasing a new line-up of Macs soon in the new year? |

Macs are too overpriced...see this: http://compsci.ca/v3/viewtopic.php?t=26311&highlight=mac IMO, you should do just what ecookman said in that post I personally actually like Windows 7... |

Yes, they are quite expensive, but the 21.5' iMac actually isn't that costly, and for the video editing that I do, it would be perfect. |

I do love the Mac editing (sound, video, DVD, etc...) programs...but you can find working alternatives for Windows or Linux which will do the job just as well (tho perhaps not a stunning GUI)... |

Those "alternatives" need to be factored into the cost. There are some OSX apps that are worth more to me (in productivity and enjoyment of use) than the hardware cost "premium". |

Perhaps you can find an alternative for iMovie or iPhoto, but I have been looking for a long time, and I have not found a decent alternative to Garageband. Everything I've tried is either too complicated and geared towards professionals, or too simplified and useless. |

I have missed Garage Band a lot...but when I need a similar program, I use Acoustica Mixcraft...it is similar...but not worth buying |

What's an alternative to iMovie that is just as simple and intuitive? |
