Job search advice?

Post subject:  Job search advice?

Not sure quite where this would fit into these forums so I'll just post in off topic... Right now I'm in the first half of my second year of CS at University of Waterloo and have decided to start looking for jobs, unfortunately I'm not a coop student so the only jobs I can see on JobMine are summer jobs (all co-op jobs are blocked)... I'm going to apply to as many large companies as I can, but most of them look for more experienced candidates and I'm not sure my chances with them would be that great... Also going to try and get some names of smaller companies from friends who are in co-op or try and see if anyone I know can help me along, but yet again I'm not overly confident that this will work...

Anyone know of other ways companies would advertise jobs for students (haven't looked on job sites like monster.ca yet)..? Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated...

Some companies will blog about their available positions -- http://blog.reddit.com/2010/05/call-for-interns.html

Others have career pages -- http://www.freshbooks.com/careers/ (hint: Freshbooks had posted on JobMine for co-op; Pro-tip: you don't necessary need to be enrolled in co-op to get those jobs.)

If you are looking at startups in Canada -- http://jobs.startupnorth.ca/

U.S. (mostly) -- http://startuply.com/

Hmmmmmmm I'll have to look over that, thanks Tony... My only other jobs before I got fairly easily so I've never done much in the way of job searching before >__<...
