1.) Web Developer. 2.) Currently, my project work consists of customizing a Content Management System to replace an existing system with a handful of developers. This can mean fixing bugs, implementing features, demonstrating work completed, estimating tasks, analyzing how things are done to improve them, stand up meetings to communicate progress. 3.) Yes, I do enjoy my job. I have a lot of freedom in what I do and have pride in the work my team does. 4.) I like solving problems and figuring things out. I enjoy seeing the, "Thank YOU!" that comes when things are finished and people are happy with the results. The freedom is also something I enjoy. 5.) I dislike going in circles on some things,e.g. that on a web page someone may want something moved and then moved back so that I didn't have to do anything in the end. Sometimes being on the same project can have that feeling of, "This is never going to end..." which I also dislike. 6.) Sorry, this I do mind but I'd give the ballpark of $50,000-$100,000/year. 7.) My degree is a Double Honor's Bachelor of Mathematics with majors in Computer Science and Combinatorics & Optimization with a Pure Math minor. Completed in 1997, which may be useful. 8.) I probably would take the same career, though I suspect I'd still be in Seattle as opposed to back in Canada if I did get a do-over on everything. |

Hello, 1) Software Developer, Project Lead 2) Programming 3) Very much 4) Computer programming in a freedom free environment (GNU/Linux) 5) Very little, other than the times the business development side needs Windows help. ![]() 6) Three times minimum wage, which is "low". I don't mind low at all. For a long time, as a domain expert I was in the $180 an hour range. 3 dollars a minute is too much for sitting in a chair and coding other people out of work. 7) High School, attended Waterloo, left the co-op program to work for the Feds 8) Absolutely. The alternative was a career as a Fisherman on Georgian Bay (the family business). Cheers |
