randomly today when i was typing my O key randomly poped up... and I had a spaz attack. lucky I was able to clip it back into place, but it keeps pooping back. should i send my lappy in to get a new keyboard or does someone know how to fix this. I will try to upload a macro photo of the assembly as soon as i charge the batteries for my camera. |

It could just be that you have not got the key back in corectly. The keys on most laptop keyboards are meant to be able to come off and be put back on, so as long as there is no damage to the key or clips that hold it on it may just be a matter of getting it on right. If your laptop has a manual i would try looking if there is anything in there about the keyboard and failing that you might want to call up tech support for what ever company made the laptop. |

dell studio 17 and it looks as if the clips are gone. further inspection... it looks like they were not cliped in instead of slid into holes, which on the part they are poping out of, are gone. |

You're going to want to buy a new keyboard. Never installed a keyboard in a Dell laptop, so I have no idea how difficult it will be. |

Why not go to a sony store with one of your keys and look around for that FZ model and try it out and see, if it does work great you saved, if not meh you learned. |

Anyways, if you have warranty, they will most likely fix it for you for free. If not, just take it to Futureshop and have them fix it. You could order the keyboard online though if you want and try fixing it yourself. |

I'm not authorized to do repairs on Dell machines, but from my experience with Toshiba, Sony, Apple and others, the problem described would not be covered under the warranty. |

Well, the sort of thing you're dealing with is typically seen by the manufacturer asuser-inflicted damage. You know when you twist the knobs on a car stereo way too hard and thy break off? Think that's covered by the warranty? |

The fact that it's Dell and backlit makes it extremely hard. You should search eBay for a new keyboard or at least the key you need. I remember I broke a couple keys on my old laptop and I bought those keys off of eBay and just clipped them back in. |

WHYYYYY WHYYYYY can't all technology be compatible with each other. stupid companies are only in this for the $$ not the customer satisfaction. Oh yea i found some keys online but they are 9 euros a piece. outch |

If all companies were compatible then there would only be one type of keyboard (size, colour, etc.) 2. For ?9, you may as well buy a brand new keyboard. |
