Does anyone know what kind of facilities Waterloo has for working with glass? I figure most universities that have a chemistry program will have some form of scientific glassblowing but I can't find any information about it online. Are students allowed to use the torches/equipment? Also, is the machine shop available for student use? And some weirder questions. Are aquariums allowed in the dorms (St. Jerome's). I was thinking of setting up a ~5 gallon tank. If possible I would like to go high tech with compressed CO2. |

The Faculty of Science has an in-house glassblowing shop. I don't know what the deal is with student use. You really should phone them. Same for StJ and aquariums. |

The student machine shop in E3 is open to Engineering students. If you are in another program, just find someone in Eng to give you a crash course through walk-in -> sign the log -> use tools process. If it looks like you should be there, no-one will question you. Social Engineering is easy ![]() |
