Anyone else here watch the launching of Wolfram Alpha last night? Pretty interesting stuff. It aims to make all of society's combined knowledge computable. Check it out http://www.wolframalpha.com/ |

wow, sounds awesome. just to see what would happen, I typed in "what is pi to 1000 decimal places?" and it gave me an answer. Didn't see that coming, I thought it would be much stricter on the syntax. |

I tried: Who killed the chauffeur in The Big Sleep? and it gave me: Wolfram|Alpha isn't sure what to do with your input. |

Don't worry (even if it turns into SkyNet). It won't hurt Ontario (the province). If it wants "Ontario", it'll just get a bunch of cities named Ontario in the states. |

Sreaching for "Are you SkyNet?" returns "Additional functionality for this topic is under development..." and asks you to leave your e-mail to be notifed when it is ready >_> Tho more seriously, it's an intresting idea but it seems to have alot of issues escaping text and the results are a bit random for some searchs in terms of what data you get back for the query. |

How can we reverse entripy? >> Wolfram|Alpha isn't sure what to do with your input. Kinda like multivac... what is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything? >> 42 Okay, good, it knows that ![]() How are you? >> I am doing well, thank you. It's alive! How does CAD compare to USD? >> 86.40cent (US cents) It then goes on to display a chart of how it compared in the past. That right there is pretty amazing. I couldn't actually get answers for most of my questions, it doesn't seem to respod well to yes/no answers. Can't wait to see this when it gets better! |

Interesting, but somehow I envision Google crushinating it. DtY @ 2009-05-19, 10:52 pm wrote: How can we reverse entripy?
