Post subject:  Student ACM Chapter (Guelph)

This message is mostly geared towards any Guelph students who read these forums, but could also be to encourage students at other schools in Canada to get their own chapters started.

A professor at Guelph and I are trying to gauge interest in students in forming a Guelph ACM student chapter. It requires roughly 10-15 interested students, a few of whom are ACM student members (I am one myself). There is already a professor at Guelph who is an ACM member and interested in sponsoring our chapter so we just student interest. There are also some more formal requirements here: http://www.acm.org/chapters/students/form-gen-interest

There are many benefits to having a student chapter (scholarships, distinguished speakers, career development etc), see here: http://www.acm.org/chapters/students/why_join

So if there are students who are at Guelph now, or intend on starting there in the fall, and are interested, let me know (either on the forums here or via email: jernst@uoguelph.ca)
