And a note to those that may not know; COBOL is a complete and venerable programming environment. OpenCOBOL is a lot of serious fun and it's open source, open to new developers, open for business.

COBOL does not get a lot of press, due to its innate vertical (one of one) versus horizontal (one sold many many times) application development nature and use by most large companies, all with secrets to keep. Don't let the lack of internet chatter trick you into thinking that COBOL is not on the radar of almost all of the world's medium and large IT shops.

OpenCOBOL opens the door to all of the small shops now, and I pester here every month or so to give everyone a chance to check it out, maybe help build it up or perhaps use it with a mind toward commercial endeavours.
