I'm aware of 2 pronunciations of Linux: Lin-ux : This sounds a lot like the name Linus, except for the x sound at the end instead of an s. Li-nux: This starts out like "Lie" and ends sounding like "knocks" Just wanted to share what I've heard. |

It was well earned, but in my defense, I had only heard of it for the first time a few days prior. I didn't know. |

Then your books are wrong and it's time for a book burning party! I actually rather hate it when people butcher pronunciations, especially for common words that it would take a moron to fuck up. |

When I first began booting linux, perhaps 9 years ago, the people I learned from referred to it that way, and it has stuck ever since. More often than not I refer to it as simply nix or nux. |
