Alright. I need to find a place to host a web page/forum for free. any ideas? |

What are your requirements? Does the forum require PHP? No ads? Meeting both these conditions can be difficult... Unless you go with an externally hosted forum, which gives you less power over the forum files and such. |

You can host your site your self at home, thats how compsci.ca started out and kept moving up as we got more users and sites to a deadicated server. |

I'm with dan - start off by hosting it off your own connection and if it becomes popular or you want to get more serious (and have some cash) then get shared hosting. When you hit the limitations there move on to a VPS or a dedicated host. I personally have a VPS and I'm quite happy with it. I do need more bandwidth and cheaper though 
Anyone know of a good VPS host that *has Arch* as an option? |

OHH i almost forgot HostGator is having an AMAZING deal right now that they just came out with... http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml Check out the hatchling deal its basically all you need for any site and not to mention you get: - unlimited space - unlimited bandwidth $5/month EDIT: i know it's not free but I for one was very impressed with their service when I used it. for $5 a month its very useful. |

You'll be kicked off this shared host the moment you start using more than what they secretly expect you to use (and the way the oversell theory works, is that as long as everyone hosts a few unpopular pages while thinking they could have more... it's all good). It's same with every other shared host though. You get what you pay for. |

I go with WebFaction. Clear limits, great prices, phenomenal service, best colo location in the world. Plus, you can have long-running processes like Python and that running. |

have you tried freewebs.com or do you want your own domain name if so there is co.cc or it is cc.co one of those as for a server ...not sure |
