And where exactly does a university student get such amounts of money *suspicious squint*

Job(s), parents, sharing a place with friends, savings, and probably a few more reasons.

actually, if my memory serves me correctly, you were doing co-op right?

What do you mean suspisious amounts of money?

Making money is easy! It's called working your ass off! Not all students are poor and hungry - though we all pretend we are in hopes of free food and drink Razz

It's a well kept secret. As long as you don't land yourself into a mortgage, car lease, insurance, and supporting family members -- you can easily buy a load of nice shiny stuff, from a fraction of what your parents make (assuming middle-class family). And with co-op, you are not that far off either.

yes... cars eat up a shocking about of income...

It's also a good idea to get insurance on everything you own if you rent. I've known people who have lost everything through fire or theft.

You can also live with your parents until your 23 and still in school like me, but there are downsides to this as a tradeoff for shiny things and moneys Razz

@Mobius -- sounds like you haven't tried using MacBook's keyboard -- it's quite amazing (and full size... well... as full as my external keyboard at work, which has a near identical feel to the MacBook's keyboard).

Hmm well I'm doing co-op so I guess I have a shot at some shinies later down the road Very Happy

I have a Dell XPS, and I like it's keyboard as well. Although punching in numbers is a pain...

Did you order your MacBook through Apple's website? I really couldn't wait for mine so I went into Future Shop and picked up a MB Pro.

Yeah, got through the website. It says 2-5 day shipping, but if you read the fine print, it says, 2-5 day shipping, after 8-12 days processing & building.

I ordered online because I'm not sure if all the options I wanted were available at a store. Plus, I got a discount because my sister goes to Brock U. $205 off! Wee!

There are no options at the store lol. Each model is just the standard model and isn't customizable. So yeah, if you wanted it custom made, you have to order it or go to the Apple store. Also, $205 off is not bad, but I remember seeing this Chris Pirillo video and he said that he paid $500 for an Apple developer membership and everyone who does that gets $1000 coupon for the Apple store. So it's $500 off.
