Internet Browser

I was just curious and wanted to know what your current and/or favourite internet browser is? Also, what browser would you like to try?

Here is a list of common internet browsers:

    Internet Explorer
    Firefox
    Safari
    Opera
    Flock
    Konqueror (Linux only)
    Netscape Navigator/Netscape Browser

I am currently using Firefox 3 and it is my favourite next to Safari. I have tried all of them, but I can't wait to try Safari on my new MacBook.[/list]

[edit by md] Made into a poll.
[edit by Tony] Added Chrome.

I use Firefox primarily, but also have Opera installed, "just because". I have Konqueror, too (I'm on KDE), but I mostly just use that as a file browser when I don't feel like typing.

I've toyed with Flock a bit, but it's just a little too much, for me.

This was just so asking to be a poll... so now it is!

I prefer firefox, however I sometimes use Epiphany when I want to act like two different people at once.

... and you missed an option, so I fixed it!

Anyways, Firefox is my browser of choice, it's easy to use and there's extensions for anything you could think of for it.

Yeah, I've tried Flock too, but I don't really like it. How is Konqueror? I never bothered to install KDE because I heard it's not as stable as GNOME. I may try it because it's summer and I'm bored.

Firstly, KDE is awesome. Just stick with the 3.5.x version for now. KDE 4 looks like it's going to be pretty damn awesome, but it still needs work right now.

Secondly - I mainly just use Konq as a file browser, like I said. It works fine as a web browser too from what I've seen, but I rarely do so, so I couldn't give a well informed opinion.

How different is KDE from GNOME, Windows, and Mac OS X?

Post subject:  RE:Internet Browser

Well, if you're any type of computer-literate person, you should really find that out for yourself, because lets face it, KDE 4 is trying (and failing) to be a mixture of AeroGlass and Aqua. (or, to use your wording, "Windows, and Mac OS X")

@ Unforgiven, if you like Konq for filebrowsing, I suggest you re-think your opinion that KDE 4 is going to be
Quote:
pretty damn awesome
because it ceases to be a file browser in KDE4. Wink

The default may be Dolphin (ugh, what a step backwards), but Konq is still there.

Defaults were made to be broken. I mean, changed.

Yeah, I have an extra HDD lying around so I will install Kubuntu on that. Or I could actually install it on a virtual machine seeing that I was one of the first people to get Ubuntu 8.04 working on VPC 2007.

Firefox 3 is my main browser and use it 96% of the time. I use Firefox 2 for any plugins not yet supported by FF3 (like Firebug) about 3% of the time. I use Internet Explorer 1% of the time when I need a Microsoft update and when checking my website on multiple browsers (This 1% also includes other browsers like opera, flock...).

Well I'd expect a University to pick a real browser as opposed to a high school

And I find the internet silly. So, what's the point?

Now that I'm making a post might as well point out this little oddity: Ugh, never mind, you've all ruined it by posting... Was going to say that Dan, myself, Zeroth, md, and andrew. all had 17 posts this month... Bah surely now I'm starting to sound mad... Mahebehmumble.

Another interesting statistic, this past year we've had a significant decrease in the amount of new accounts made per month, apart from the summer months which have seen an increase. Change of audience I guess?

It's acuatly a bug in firefox 3, so only firefox 3 users will notice.

We have talked about this befor on irc whith one of the xhtml documents i postsed (witch both this and that one are vaild xhtml). The bug was reported to the firefox peoleop but they don't seem to care, witch is why i still use firefox 2 :p

You do realises that the month is only 1/2 over so all the acounts per month and posts per month stats are not complte yet for this month and still have 16.5 days to go. If the rates keep going as they are it will probly be about the same as last year or a bit better.

I do realize the month isn't over, but that's irrelevant for what I'm quoting:
Quote:
Number of new users by month
2007 368 122 134 192 237 180 29 37 170 88 99 116
2008 177 93 97 137 165 121 41 38 49 0 0 0

Actually makes it more interesting when coupled with the increase in posts/topics. Fewer new users, but more topics. Hmm. Smile

*edit* It probably has to do with all the spammer accounts being blocked?

I just bought a MacBook Pro and I think I like Safari better. It's just faster than Firefox. The only noticeable thing is that Firefox has themes and addons.
