I was just wondering if anyone has ever worked at CSIS as a Information Technology Specialists or knows anyone who has worked there? I'm starting my 4th year of Comp Sci and am looking for a job once I've finished. I've worked as a Web Developer and QA Analyst for the past two summers. Do I have the qualifications for this job Thanks |

Once you have a bachelor's you have the qualifications. It doesn't matter if your bachelors was in Anthropology, you can apply for any position, and be considered equally. Just make sure you have the appropriate skills and dedication. Applying does involve an 18 month background check. They will talk to your neighbours when you were four, all your past ex-girlfriends etc. I've spoken personally with the Senior Agent in Charge of BC, and it was a pretty fun discussion. CSIS has never lost an agent. They perform primarily intelligence and counter-intelligence. A Technology specialist will be responsible for evaluating, or designing new hardware and software for agents to use. As well, CSIS gets access to all the latest goodies and toys before they are released in Canada, for appraisal. They work very hard to avoid all the government agency pitfalls. As well, the products you choose to purchase/develop will be integral to helping Field Agents do their work. This can involve stuff like facial recognition, action prediction, filtering software, communications software, encryption routines. I hope that helps. |
