Hello,

I have a friend, and he/she has a problem, basicly aftr turing on their computer, and after they boot pass the my bios and
windows loads, they message similar to the title of this topic.

I am wondering if anyone has heard anything about this message before, down to is it a virius? what kind? how to beat?

There is alot of very important data on the stated computer, stuff that cannot be replace, it is very important that these said files be recovered.

So, that is all you need to know, if there is anything else that needs to be added you will be update with this said information at a said time, which has yet to be determined.

This is not a joke.

Thank you

You're joking, right?

If not (honestly, I can't tell what is going on but I guess you aren't joking because I didn't go "ha ha" at the end), get a Linux Live CD and back up all important data to a CD, DVD, USB drive, other computer, internet, or all of the above.

Or try booting into safe mode? I don't know.

I've only done this once before. Safety is not guaranteed.

Like I said, it is a friend computer not mine, as I get more information, I will update according, my best bet right now is a virus.

Linux is not a option, I also have no access to the actual computer.

Thanks

Why is linux not an option? Ruling out a very good solution without explanation is silly.

And if you say "because you can't play games on linux" then I invite you to kick yourself. Gaming on linux is pretty good and improving all the time.

I don't agree, but I wasn't suggesting he actually replace Windows. But since there's no actual access to this computer and this person doesn't exactly have a way with words, I think I'll just give up on getting the necessary details. Reformat?

Oh wait... you ARE joking!

We're not saying to install Linux, rather, get a copy of a Linux LiveCD (Ubuntu will work fine), and access the harddrive via the Terminal to recover all important files, then, either hunt down this "virus", or reformat. Your choice.
