Whenever I play any computer game for more than 5min, this happens to my screen. Does anyone know a possible reason for this?

Wow! Is that an actual screen shot or did you take a picture with a camera?

If it is a screen shot, it is most likely software related.

If it is a picture from a camera, it is most likely hardware related.

It looks like its a problem with the video memory, but I really have no sources to back this up.

Do the games you play attempt to change the screen size at all? If you can stop the game from doing that, maybe your problem will disappear.

Suppose that you are correct, is there any way for me to solve this problem without actually buying a new video card?

Do you mean the resolution of the screen?

I recomend updating you video drivers if they are not uptodate.

Also what game is it and what video card are you using?

Have you tried a virus scan? Is the game updated to the latest version? Maybe this was fixed in a patch. Try finding a forum for Rise of Nations. If it only occurs with that game, then, most likely, someone else will have had that problem.

oh, i know that look. it seems like the backbuffer was marked dirty but still used to update. its most likely a driver bug.

Sadly I have the same issue on Windows. The screen appears jumbled and the machine usually BSODes.

It most likely is a driver issue. I myself boot back into Linux where the drivers don't seem to give me issues. If reinstalling drivers doesn't work, install Linux Smile.

Is this a dropped laptop? The GPU may be somewhat damaged.

Dan: It happens during the game.

ericfourfour: I've tried those suggestions, and it still doesn't work.

Andy: Sorry, but I'm not very familiar with the jargon. Is it possible for you to clarify?

Drakain Zeil: It's on my desktop. (non-dropped).
