my screen goes blank for 1 second when i right click on avi type files (only that)... why is that? |

perhaps you have some sort of virus that causes this, or some sort of weird slowdown has occurred when you right click on it? If you haven't tried a full system scan, I suggest you do. |

i removed all file associations with windows media player 11, and this problem doesnt exist anymore =) |

stupid Media Player 11, do you plan on doing a re-install and see if that helps? |
