Microsoft will be hosting XNA Studio Express Development (home-made games for Xbox360) event. This Saturday, November 11th, near University of Toronto. I'm already registered and will be attending. |

I'll be there as well with a friend and my teacher who agreed to drive us there. (I don't know my way around Toronto so driving myself would be a problem. ) |

I so need a Hacker Dan shirt......i got the plushy allready.... Any how it seems to me that thess things are publistiy stunt trying to get peoleop to the side of microsoft's standarder by geting them to use the prority langues or librarys with the lure of gaming and xbox. Tho i am surpirsed that Microsoft is promoting home made games for the xbox. Maybe this could be them showing a new atudtued on console moding and hacking? |

no way, they are still keeping Xbox as locked as they can. They just figure they need to appeal to the development community more. And don't forget making a buck in the process. XNA Studio (or was it the homebrew gaming 'marketplace' ?) has $99/year licensing fee. I'm fairly sure they'll introduce a bunch of nominal fees all over the place as well. I bet they you can only publish the games via their propriatory distribution network (not burning DVDs), so they will still keep control of what's going on. |

Yep. IIRC you can distribute the game, but anyone who wants to play it needs to have XNA. Still, it seems cool for academic purposes. |
