| Post subject: | Older computer won't work. |
I tried to move all the parts from our really old Windows 95 computer into a different case. I got all of it to fit in and I've connected everything together properly but now it won't start I just get a short buzzing noise. When I disconect the power from the motherboard the computer will turn on but there is no power to the motherboard and the computer won't work. Can anyone help with this issue? |

sounds like the new power supply might not be providing enough Watts. Check to see how it compares to the one in the old case. |

the new tower didn't have a power supply with it so I had to use the old power supply in the new tower. I know the power supply worked fine before but since I moved all the parts from the old case to the new one it just won't turn on. I also didn't disconnect any wires I just took out the video card and sound card and put them back in. I also took extra care in handling the hard drive so I know it's none of these parts. |

Hmm it sounds like that you may have something crossed on your motherboard or you have fried or damaged your motherboard  If that has happened that means you may need to get a new motherboard and power supply depending on how old the original parts are. I suggest first to remove all the parts from the case and try to run the computer out of the case (but not for very long) this way it makes sure none of the contacs on the back of the motherboard are bridged. |
