one of my colleague's linux box is getting a bunch of Segmentation Fault errors when I do stuff like 'ls' so i thought that was pretty funny. But check this out: http://www.crisscross.com/jp/forum/Worlds_worst_hacker%25_IRC_t%20ranscript/m_422436/tm.htm

Actually it is SFW; and rediculously funny. If only we knew what happened to him.

Just go on any random site related to hacking tools and you'll see how many 1337 script h4x0rs there are these days...

well first of all its hard to find a 'hacking' tool that lets you enter an IP address and then reboot the target machine and format hardrives. and secondly its not possible to format C drive if you are using it to the point of crashing your OS. whats YTMND

Author:  [Gandalf] [ Wed Sep 20, 2006 8:26 pm ]
Post subject:

Doing that is pretty easy with a backdoor program, although then there is the matter of getting it on the computer of choice in the first place. Anyway, I was talking about general 'hacking' sites (ie. cracking, game hacks, etc), not neccessarily one for formatting a hard drive based on an IP.

Oh, YTMND is just ytmnd.com, though I've never been there myself. Razz

Not so! rm -rf / works quite well at removing everything while at teh same time not stopping itself. It is quite possible to destroy a windows partition in the same manner... though windows won't actualy remove everything.

It would appear that you have given this quite a bit of thought Cornflake....

yup, I've even done it! I rm-rf / 'd my server once (on purpose) to see if it would work; I also tried deleting everything on the windows drive in vmware; that didn't work as well.

I can assure you though that rm-rf will delete most files on a drive; failing only when so much of your system (if not all of your system) is gone that you can't do anything any more.

You are forgetting, you gave me ssh access with read access to all files before you did that. Now that's also funny, because it's not hard to get your /etc/shadow file Wink.

i tried deltree /y my C drive a while back (actually i didnt try it purposely, i just ran a file that did that). and it stopped when it got access denied on a windows folder, presumably c:\windows\command or something (the foler that stores dos executables)

Do you still have that? 'cause it should be all but useless now. That also reminds me that I need to change the permissions on a lot of my system...

I think I may still have it... but I'm on winders now so it really doesn't matter. Changing file permissions would be a good idea... give me ssh access and I'll poke around Wink.

Simply amazing, yet freakin stupid @ the same time. That could be acting, but it could happen. How many people actually memorize their IP address? (i have a bad feeling this is gonna turn back on me now.)

Why memorize your IP when you can have a domain name!

(i knew this would turn back on me...) True. Oh, and apparently the IP Address 127.0.0.1 refers to address that the computer is using. Any computer that enters that code will access their own computer. Call me stupid, but i just figured that out.
