For me to get insured its over $6k a year. W-T-F. How do I get to school? If I was a woman - $3k. :S Anyone here pay their own insurance? |

I pay exactly 3060 a year for insurace on a 2001 Chevy Venture van. I only have my G2, I'm 17, and I'm a guy. Pretty much the worst place to be, unless I didn't have my drivers ed. or a clean record. Which insurance company are you with, and what car are you being insured on? |

wouldn't it be easier if you add your name to your parents insurance? well I mean if you are sharing car with your parents, and even if it is your own car, you can still make it under your parents name and just add your name to it. Your parents' insurance is probably way lower, you probably pay about 50 to 60 bucks on top of your parents' fee per month. It is much easier and cheaper. |

Insurance is rediculous for me too, something like 6K a year. That's with 5 years driving expereince and drivers ed. It's cause I'm a guy, <25 and I drive a jeep... I think it's just a cash grab personally. |

Did you have any accidents? I don't understand why I am paying (relatively) so little. ![]() ... Unless your jeep is worth a lot. |

It might depend on the location. I hear that car insurance is generally cheaper in say.. Waterloo than Toronto. Living in a remote area with no broadband internet services, I'd expect an even lower premium ![]() |

Ahaha you're funny! -_- i doubt that should have anything to do with anything, considering I have to drive more frequently to get anywhere. So, the lower risk is probably more than compensated for by the increased time driving. |

![]() Makes sense. Personally, I never steal cars unless I can use them to drive to an Internet cafe and download mp3z really quickly. It's just not worth it, man. |

I am insured as an occasional under my moms car, for like $800 a year. But if you have 2 cars and 2 drivers, both people need to be a primary. My mom can't get another car and insure it under her, because they insurance company would KNOW. I've had my G2 since january, have drivers ed, im 17, guy, southwestern ontario, and RBC quoted me 6 grand. clean record, had ocasional insurance through my mom. its nuts. It's a Mercury Mystique. like, come on! |

lol yeah, I was in that boat too when I had my Jeep I got her when I was 18 and drove it into the ground by the time I was 22 (cross-member got pretzled on a rock ![]() I had a squeaky clean record with all my papers and was paying over 6k/year. Jeeps in particular are expensive vehicles as they're classed as "Recreational vehicles" Cornflake, what kinda Jeep you got?? Mine was an '88 YJ, 4" lift with 32" MT's and a bunch of off-road utilities. |

It depends. If your parents already each own a car, you have to be a primary driver, and unless you get a sex change, it's gonna be bustin' your ass till your 25. Now, you can be an occasional driver for cheap, but it has to be on your parents car. |

You can always get a quote from more than one insurance broker before you buy a vehicle. In fact, it's pretty much suggested that you do so. It would be a shame for you to buy a car thinking you're going to pay one price cause it's what you heard, then end up paying something completely different once you actually buy the vehicle. |

I have. Most say my profile is too complication to calculate online, and the others are just as bad. My dad's insurance said if he were to put me as a primary under his policy, it would starts at $4700. Start. |

Mine was an '88 YJ, 4" lift with 32" MT's and a bunch of off-road utilities. Just a standard '95 YJ with a few addons (steps, tow hooks on the front, a trailer hitch). No accidents, it's just that jeeps + <25 male == $$$ |

I got lucky, my mom and dad are still together, but my mom never drives, so shes primary on my car, but almost never drives it, and I always do. Its a 2005 chevy blazer, I pay for half of it, my parents are paying for the other half, its a pretty sweet deal. (but I needed it for school, as I live near my university(at home), but not near enough that I can take a bus, cause were in a rural area) Most people around here, just convince their parents to not drive as much, and put them on as occasional. but then again, almost no one around here can afford to spend that much extra money. I've had that thing on some pretty fun adventures!, me and two friends drove down to the florida keys for a week, took us 30hrs driving straight thru (only stopped for food/piss) we were towing seadoos though, thats what took us so long, the way home we made it in like 26hrs (we left them down there) *side note* Driving on the american interstates is amazing....they do it way better than we do in canada. Mostly because theres so many small states....but....they have rest stops that are well timed, and 24hrs (mostly just washroom and vending machine), but its nice cause you can count on one being there when you cross into a new state. Here in canada, our 'information stations' are nothing in comparison. |

By golly! What's going on? Cornflake seems to be denying that he ever said "suck problem", yet there it is, both in Hikaru79's quote and in his own post. And what's this! It seems Cornflake has edited his post. Perhaps he originally had it as "such problem" but then fixed his typo to make it "suck problem". This goes deep, indeed. |

![]() Better to make the mistake in typing than in speech. :'( |

strangely enough it's only when typing that it happens. When I speak I occaionally totally screw up a word or something so I need to start over again, but I get the right word. It's actually really frustrating though because unless someone points out my mistake to me I have ahard time finding it on my own. |

w00t for grandma. My grandpa's old truck hasn't been used since he passed away more than 2 years ago, and it's in fairly good condition. So I'm going to buy it off of my grandma, and my mom's going to put me as a primary driver under her insurance, for $2900/year. And then, she said I can usually drive her car, and sometimes use the truck. So sweet deal. You've gotta cheat the system this way, such as be an occasional or hook a vehicle up under a business. |
