I find it odd how you have 1 forum " Perl, PHP, Javascript, Java, C/C++, CGI Scripts, Tutorials, Resources, Script Installation, etc" and then another for "pertaining to a language not covered by these forums." seems kind of redundant Also there's more out there than Windows and Linux OS. Some of more popular ones being Unix, OS X, FreeBSD, etc. Otherwise not a bad start. Seems kind of plane in all grey. Drop-down menues look kind of odd too. |

ya i agree with tony its kinda plain and its too grey lol. anyhow u have to do quite a bit of advertising to get ppl to your site. otherwise why would ppl post on your site if there won't be a reply? its a good start though |

once again, you're worried about insignificant things like cash mod and what not. There isn't much point.. "oh hey, check out this cool new forum with a cash mod, maybe I'll sign up" Start with some original content, members will come. Then you can mod out your forum as needed. |

what theme are you using , looks quite nice. i want to mod it to hell for frozencore. also , people dont join forums for no reason remember you have nothing unique to offer , we can all get hte help we need right here at Compsci. people join large forums becaus they know they will get help , or some attention. if i had an urgent problem , would i join a 15 member forum , not a chance. so get some unique content , give something away, or do somthing fun wiht your site. and get some members. |

It just doesn't make sense to come here advertising for a new community about tech support. If people are having troubles with their computers they'll likely post in [General Discussion] or [Off Topic] about it. And I don't think the problems occur often enough to warrant having their own message board for it. You might have one post a week about problems and solutions, and the rest (if any) would be offtopic "post your desktops", "fatal wish game", "omg my teacher sucks" type threads with "me too" and "lol" style replies. You can't really start a community without anyone contributing anything of value. How did compsci.ca start? It was all about Turing at first because the people who created this site were learning Turing at the time, and there were no decent online communities for learning the language at that time. Tech support you can find anywhere and usually don't need to worry about whether anybody is going to visit the message board and find your post. Anyways, I think I've just been restating what's already been said here. |

A small forum can only be better then a lagre forum if it's members are. Also if your goal is 24/7 suport then a small forum is not going to work, and you whould need a very large user base. As i have side it is all about content and comunity, you need both or your site/fourm will die. |

remember it in terms of this. one member on 24/7 sounds great, you say that you are on 24/7 Even better. now what happens when you cant solve my problem, becuase you dont know anything about it. on the other hand there are large support forums where , although members are not on 24/7 , there are always a few members on at any given time, you have multiple eyes loking at a problem , allowing for multiple solutions , and varied expertice. Dont jump back with your post sin defence of your web site, we told you what you need and why people wont join , we are not lying. its the truth , there are a million support pages out ther , make a reason why people should go to yours. Remember that your just a kid aswell , dont expect to have a booming web page, unless you have a mass marketing plan and some highly eductated people. nothing is going to happen over night. its taken compsci years to becomee what it is, and it was done by hte people. They were hte mass marketing , you would hear " go check out htiis site where people post these crazy games" or " i found a place wher eyou can get help for turing, its like the only one in existance" thats compsci's purpose for being around ,the other forums and help , and chat are just offspring that have slowly evolved. People who originally joined for Turing have gone one to learn new things , or get intrested in other topics which allow the community to grow in terms of knowledge and support. I know this is huge now and im just rambling , but please... stop begging and start working , let us know when your ready to offer somthing and i promise you , we will join. |

lol ya , well my domain name is getting sorted out should have my .ca domain asap within a day or so, then we are working to continue to improve the site, and we have an advertiser group with 1 member currentlly but both the admins (owners) me and some other guy also pitch in with the advertising, we do the bulk of it |

you know what Dani.. bullshit First of all you don't have an original idea. "Support Site"? That's as generic as it gets. Then you go ahead and design your forum around compsci's screencap! Bonus points for compiling someone else's content with someone else's presentation. Second you seem to be doing this all for the wrong reasons. Advertiser groups? I've noticed some of your word choices. Are you running this as a business? Do you intend on making any money out of this? Just don't do a wrong thing for a wrong reason, you'll get yourself hurt. |

dani chill out tony was just stating the obvious. now its time for me too state the obvious. basically if u came here to advertise wrong choice because if u haven't noticed this is pretty much exactly the same support site but a lot better because more people = more ideas= more help = faster help!!! even if u were there 24/7 which is impossible because a human being needs sleep, like shorthair said u won't know everything. now i highly doubt a lot of us will join your site because we have compsci.ca and too me its just a lot better so there is no point of advertising on this site. |

mabye he didnt expect us all to know all this. I mean ive seen this "support forum" idea about a billion times. and i wrote a freaking page on why generics dont take off. he is so defensive, we make a suggestion , he gets all huffed up and fightts back. obviously not intrested in doing any work. not only was that board premade (PHPBB) which is okay if your gonna do some work , like us. but he added , modded , changed , fixed. nothjing. its just a regular forum that does not stand out among the crowd , and with his attitude , probably never will. I just hope he understands now , that we know what were tlaking about being programming computer geeks and all. |
