You people and your "week"... I get 4 days; including the weekend. Hopefully I'll get to go somewhere, but most likely I'll get to stay home and do something nifty in the way of programming. |

We don't call them snow days here, we just call them days. So far this year we whould have had tones of days that whould count as a snow day in other parts of the provicen but nothing shuts down here. The only time i have seen somthing clanced due to the weather here is when it gets so cold that the pies break and the heating failes or when a prof can not get black b/c planes are not crazy enought to land here. Aucatly i got this cheap thermomoter the other day that i think was free from some where that is sposend to let u see the temp outside inside and it aucatly forze and broke the glass. I think they where using like colored water in it or somthing and it was not ment for high negitve temps. |

I haven't had a snow day yet and I live in the GTA. I really want one. I used to live in Winnipeg where it gets REEALLY cold. I don't even know when they allowed us to stay home, but I remember going to school during a week where the mornings were -54 ish give or take 4 degrees Celsius. also, the rule was we had to go out for recess unless it was colder than -27 when it was deemed dangerous for prolonged exposure. During -50's i remember walking out of the house and feeling my lips freezing. And people used to take pails of HOT water and pour it over their windshields to melt the ice cover, but unless it was wiped off quickly, it froze over as well, within like 15 seconds. |

I was born in Winnipeg, i now live in Thunder Bay just a few KM to the right =p. -50 and lower days are not fun. Tho some times u get to see the water cryctes in the air frezz and it makes a cool fog. |

they said winnipeg was -39 degrees this morning.. ouch.. anywho, dan, i dont think using "right" is necessarily the best way to discribe directions lol |

Well, when I was young, we didn't have snow days either; the name was redundant because every day had snow. Every once in a while, it would go over -50 degrees, and that would be a beach day. Usually there would be three or four metres of snow on the ground at any time. Sometimes we'd have winds up to 100 km/h, and that would shift some of the snow around. We'd call that a thaw. The only time we could actually make it to school was during the wooly mammoth migration period. It was dangerous, but if you made it halfway to school through the blizzardous snow, slit open a mammoth and jump inside to regain your body heat AND if you didn't lose any of your books in their internal regions... you could make it the rest of the way. |

All the elementary schools around Mac had a snow day yesterday, but our dear admin decided to keep us open. I guess it was a good decision since we actually weren't hit by the storm itself. Ah well, I don't care, since Reading Week is here! Huzzah for that. I'm totally looking forward to catching up on some much needed sleep...though for some reason I do see myself spending a significant amount of time keeping up with Organic Chemistry. Bloody mechanistic overlord that it is... Enjoy your hols Tony, and anyone else going anywhere refreshing. |

I actually walked to class on Thursday only to find everything closed - even Tim Horton's! They can do that? It didn't even cross my mind that it would be a 'snow day' since it wasn't so bad out. Like Dan said, snow days are rarely called in Northern Ontario. Hacker Dan wrote: Tho if u had a map with noraml directions (ie. north being up) then it realy whould be to the right

Brenn, duct tape. It can solve your hunger problems in more ways than one. I offer three: 1. Eat it. 2. Get another friend to go to the supermarket for you, then hang the tape out the window. The friend will stick your food onto the duct tape, then you reel it in. 3. Use it to lasso yourself to anyone going to the supermarket. This saves you from walking, though you'll still have to stand up to go through the cash lines. |

5. Ask friend to come over. Kidnap using duct tape to bind wrists and prevent sreaming. Hold ransom for food. (6. Profit!) |

5.5. Make a hangman's knot using duct tape. Hang friend. Fry, and eat. |

How is it wrong? I think at the moment its still free speech on the internet And Cervantes, a good tip is to cut him up into smaller chunks first. Increase in the surface area fries him faster Also Extra Virgin Olive Oil goes well, and masks the stench of Iron, as does generous heapings of salt and pepper |

+110 ultra-bits for whoever identifies that quote correctly. To be fair, I'll say that I may not have gotten it 100% correct. |

Sounds like Wolverine to me. I hereby give you my mod privileges.* Your 110 ultra-bits should be ready within the week, and you'll be able to pick them up in #compsci.ca EDIT: Damn you cruel Internet! I can't find the quote (and countless others) anywhere. The fact that it's from the animated series and (probably) not from the comic books doesn't seem to help. Oh well, I know what I'll be doing this weekend. *Note: I can't actually do that. |

Your Google-fu wins. I could've sworn it had "chop" in there, but all's well that ends well. See if you can find another one. Went something like "Work for him?! I'm here to tear him a new navel!" This was in reference to Apocalypse, IIRC. |
