Rolling with 9rules – best weblogs in the world

9rules network

“9rules is a community of the best weblogs in the world on a variety of topics.” Technorati.com counted over 55 million blogs, so how does 9rules figure out what’s the best from the rest? Well they are sort of a private club with some serious quality control.

Every once in a while 9rules would open up a 24 hour window for submissions, so far there have only been 5 such rounds. Each blog wishing to get into this exclusive network is screened, not just for quality of content, but also passion for the subject! And while one could be passionate enough about their cat to keep a blog about that pet, one can be sure that it’s a pretty darn awesome blog about a cat to make it to the 9rules.com.

So this afternoon I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that CompSci.ca/blog has been accepted into the network! Can you guess what time that announcement has been posted?

What this means is that I’ll get to better contribute to the excellent Education and Programming communities. Though what I am particularly excited about, has to do with my tendency to pick out the best traits I come across, and try and adopt them. I have originally applyed for the 9rules network because (I’m subscribing to their blog feed, and) their “Original 9 Rules” very closely represent my own set of believes, and I personally strive to improve on every single point.

  1. Love what you do.
  2. Never stop learning.
  3. Form works with function.
  4. Simple is beautiful.
  5. Work hard, play hard.
  6. You get what you pay for.
  7. When you talk, we listen.
  8. Must constantly improve.
  9. Respect your inspiration.

I believe that having been put up front like this, before a larger audience outside of my comfort zone, will be a welcomed push in motivation to continue pursuing what I love.

I look forward to getting involved with a community, that shares such an excellent view of perfection. For those of you new to 9rules – take a look!
– Tony
