VERY IMPORTANT! If Game Is TOO Slow! Enter 'kevin' or 'n' For Is ur PC Fast Question! Even though ur PC Rocks, U will have To Enter That If Enemies Are Slow!!!!

sorry for big text,... but soo many ppl are thinking game runs too slow and it sucks... ITS NOT TRUE.... i will lower the delay and fix it up a bit more... posibly add more levels.... ill repost hopefully in two weeks!
i had to increase delay (3months ago) because ppl with fast computers experienced INSTANT death... so i raised it... but unfortunately i raised it too much... and its a lot of work to recompile it all up! so just use 'n' and 'kevin' if enemies arn't moving fast enough!

My Grade: Gr.10 did this first semester (like november to jan)

Hey all... this is the moment everyones been waiting for... the BIG unvailing of PacMan Semi-Final Version v4.9....
Note: version 5 will be my FINAL VERSION!!!!

Note: I made an installer using gInstall... it also contains an uninstall, and links in start menu. And it cant be posted here, so its on a blank website so i can count the hits

(If You Dont Like Installers, THen THere is a .zip version of it on the SECOND page, near the bottom) that is uploaded to compsci
All there is on website is the link to my file at my SHAW server (unlimited bandwidth)

Note: Filesize has been reduced DRAMATICALLY, to 1MB FLAT !!!

Note: The backround beat has been changed totaly to new music, plus from .mp3 to .mid so its realy small

Note: There are about a dozen new graphics + sounds since v3.5


PLEASE read the Read 1st.txt file included with links in start menu, as it contains IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Also it outlines the limitations and the known issues in game

game doesnt work. It said run time error has occured in this program.

FRICKING Crap... the picture is there.... ok.. i will increase the delay...

it changes picture when its EATING
if your PC is too fast... it might try to Pic.Draw while while picture is still trying to change,.... i tried the installer on my sysem and it WORKED

EDIT: it turned out to be the installer... simple little error..

i will re-release.... CRAP

All fixedAll fixed... it turns out it wasn't the picture changing deal... it was the fact that i forgot why i stoped using gInstall for a while....

turing needs to know where its running from so you need a working directory in shortcut...

i did not know how to do taht... so yea..
i looked in help and finnaly found all the commands you can add to shortcut creation.. and workdir="c:\shorty software\pac man" was all i needed to do.,...

COOL... now i can use gInstall more often... and i iwll be re-updating my sites Template file for gInstall to include that...

I like it alot just a few things. I got a runtime eror once but i think it was something wrong with one of the lines it said or sumthing but it never happened again, I just dont like the ghosts going thru walls it makes it pretty damn hard. overall gg.

Best part about the programme? Midi and Wav going at the same time. Didn't know you could do that. Good stuff.

you can only play the .mid and .wav at same time if y6ou have new version

for backround beat:
Music.PlayFileLoop ("blah.mid")

then to play a sound effect
Music.PlayFileReturn ("die.mid")

these are new to v4.05

Please note, paul bian your score will be added soon.... i wil;l update it again today adding a couple more scores.... plus i will start backround music AFTER intro... also... adding a sound on off button durring middle of game... button will be 's'... also i will be adding delta's MAD high score...
anyone else with a score to add... please tell me...

also..... that one runtime error is documented in Known errors: that that text file....

sometimes when its changing pictures... it catches it off gaurd...

anyways... tahnks for the comments... keep em comming...

also if the game is not hard... whats the fun?

that was before i got revealed.... o well... only 1... but seriously.... maverick gave it an Needs improvment cuz i had an error with installer... taht should have been a good. or average... or maybe even amazing...
so... its all good... also... will everyone keep bugging me about that till the day i die... waht the big deal so i have 2 accounts... boo hoo...i not the only one... i know a couple others who have more then one... but i wont reveal them

New version is uploaded now....
New stuff:

Pause button: 'p', right click anywhere to resume
Boss Key: 'esc', pauses and removes window, right click to resume
Added another question at start: View read 1st.txt
Added a sound on off button during game: 's' to disable / enable
Added 3 new high scores

dan added the Average for me... i canot mod pollz.... also... i have Needs improvement.. that is second to worst... anyways... someoen did that to all FP contest submitions... so it was and evil person...

like common... who would say that my game SUCKS... realy... it may not be the greatest game in the world... but it dont suck...

maverick gave me the needs improv because my installer failed to work properly...... i am a gInstall noob... ... i am currently trying to learn it better so i can add a complete GUI like in the Uninstaller... but its rough

UUUM i finished and won in the shortest time, yet i was farther down on the list, it seems the longer you take, the higher score you get... it was the greatest version yet!!! *cough* thanks to me *cough* Very Happy

that is awesome. best game i have yet to play in turing, seriously.

great music and sound effects, and your voice, though it gets kindof annoying, adds to the professionalism of it. The gameplay rocks, its very smooth, its fast, nice graphics, nice intro.

the only bad things:
the ending effects of the rectangles takes a long time, as well, the black rectangles take a long time. and only one other thing, the enemies can go through walls, but it would be hard to keep them on a path, or at least difficult.

all in all, an amazing game, and you should start on a nother game, cause im sure it would be equallyu awesome.

ty jonos... now all i need is one more highscore... and the table will be full...

the banana apears at 500 points... and stays for roughly 20 seconds..its not very acurate cuz i dont have it on real time... only on game time...
i am thinking of ways to do it tho,... like

bananatimer := total time (min*60 + counter)
if totaltime (min*60+counter) = bananatimer + 10 then
% draw a box over banana and call it a day.. lol...
get score if your on top of it..
end if

but....meh... i will decrease the delay for ending visuals... thx jonos

and maybe i will do that... also... i might do that for the killevil dude timer.. as that is not very acurate either... i tried.. but meh.. ive worked enough on pacman... i will start making my next game.... i started development when i was a nooby and i stoped cuz i needed to lear more... but pac man was FUn to program... so i made it isntead... i should finish my Text Twist game... (its a remake of the one by yahoo)...
now that i can program...

and i will check out that evasive manuvers game...

now... If you dont like the idea of installing my game... even though you can trust me not to screw with your comp, here is the game, without an installer, in zip format... (someone suggested i do that)

PS: i updated it a bit, removing the Stop Music Question, and replacing it with PM me at compsci... since music will not stop anyways cuz its looped,
and added more high scores...

fixed a glitch where, after i made the boss key and pause key work.. taht made sound on / off not work and all sound effects not work, also made it turn off sound when you pause / boss key, also fixed it so ty for trying program plays sound, i had it too close to Music.PlayFileStop b4.. also i made it ask you if you want to open the read first, from within the game

i also updated the installer one too.. on the first page

Very nice. However, I would like to see some more work, because I think there is still room for improvements. My thoughts on the gameplay:

1. In the real Pacman, the baddies dont go through the walls. I think this would be a major improvement to gameplay, although yes, it would mean lots of work.

2. When I played the enemies moved far too slow to be any sort of threat. In the 0:55 it took for me to win they had moved less than 1cm from their starting places; and it was hard to get the dots in the corners because the baddies were on top of them almost.

3. Your effects are nice, but I think you should speed them up a bit. My PC is 2.4ghz, and i suspect if it was slower I would have to go with the slow option, or the wipe effects would take a while to complete.

i had large amounts of problems iwht speed..

even though ur comp is 3.0 w/e GHZ u mite have to choose the 'kevin' option.... this is due to me jacking up the delay because of reports of instant death! right b4 i posted....... personally on my pent 1 machine... i use 'kevin ... and they give a decent chase.. and ive used 'kevin' on pent 3 machines and they give a hard chase... its all in balance... i guess i just jacked up a tiny bit too much for the 'y' setting!...

that error is simply due to turing being dumbass.....

if u use more then 1000 pictures in ur game... then it does that...
i could prob rewrite my code to include a Pic.Free in there... but thats too much work right now..... cuz im more involved in my websites / forum

yes i am aware that making the guys non run into walls would improve.... but that would be maybe 100 lines of whatdotcolor..... meh... i personally find it much harder with them goling thru wallz...

ok.. the reason it would not reset the guys to eat mode.... is because all delays are based on ur comp speed setting..

for time for eating them its..
delay (comp*40) where as comp is a speed between 5-50
and in main game loop where the enemy moves... thast (comp*100)

or something along those lines.... its been a while since i relaly looked at code

since ur the tenth person to complain about it too slow and u are too proud to us the SLOWEST setting... then... ill make it faster and reupdate all my crap withing the next 2 weeks.. (im busy)

hard mix.... Hacker Dan played my game and said he died instantly while back,,.... u play... they dont move 1 CM!

Enter Dot Color: u musta entered 7 or 245 - 255

meh... retry again with differenet colors!!!

try the defalt ones!!!

you're a genius! the game is so cool, except for the fact that the monsters eat through the wall. i love the way you clear the screen unlike a lot of people i know lol. i'm in grade 10 and my goal is to make a pacman game in turing so maybe you could give some pointers and advice if u dont mind. awsome game!
