sure, but you don't need to limit it to just one 3d app. even though you may not realize it, there are several others (even for free (legally)) available.

ofcourse not... Its just that 3DSMAX and Maya are the most popular ones out there.
I've also tried out Bruice (I think...) but it was mostly for landscapes. And milkshaper (app sucked, but it loads half-life models, so some people use that).
My 3D app of choice is ofcourse 3DSMAX but I'll see it to that others will get their space as well

theres one also called SolidWorks, almost the same as autodesk inventor.....our skool used to have autodesk, but the licensing fee went up so high the teacher said screw it. solidworks isn't too bad...almost the same as inventor
